  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Wow, my life got turned upside down today...

Goose, I'm a single parent - so there's an obvious difference in situation here - but aside from anything that relates to my kiddo, the absolute worst part of being single is that I have to do my own dishes and vacuum my own floors... Which isn't really a big deal, is it...?

Here, let me share my favorite fairy tale with you (BOTL version):

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl to marry him. She said "No!" So he hung out with his friends, and went to sports bars and cigar lounges, and drank lots of beer, and smoked lots of cigars, and kept his humidors wherever he wanted to, and rode his motorcycle, and played video games, and went hunting and fishing, and ate pizza for breakfast, and played guitar as loud as he wanted, and watched lots of sports on TV, and belched and farted whenever he felt like it, and left the toilet seat up, and did whatever the hell he wanted, and he lived happily ever after. The End.

So yeah, I know it's rough and it does take a little time to get used to it... but, I gather that you're in your early 20's, right? You've got a LOT of good years ahead of you, brother. Might seem hard to do right now, but enjoy it.

Hang in there Goose. You live, you learn and you usually make a better choice the next time around.
You'll come out of this and (someday) be thankful that it happened - even though it sucks right now.
I'm thankful it happened already. She was the only reason I didn't do so many things I dreamed about doing. I had resigned myself to living to make her happy, now I get to live to make me happy.

Definitely sorry to hear man, that is never an easy thing to go through. But sounds like you got the right mindset thinking she held you back from doing things you have wanted to. You are only 22/23 yrs old, your life is just starting man. Enjoy the journey.

Before you make your final decision about San Fran, just make sure you know it's one of the most expensive cities to live in. Make sure you research the area, living, etc before making the move. I do love the City, but just make sure it can work out. Seattle is a great City too... tons of things to do.

I LOVE Seattle. That's my ultimate goal, San Jose would just be an intermediary step in the right direction.
I would move straight to Seattle today if I had any prospects there other than a cousin with an established family. If you know anyone up there who's hiring let me know.

Update:
Last night I had the most fun I've had in a long time.
I made friends who share my interests for the first time in 8 years. I stayed out all night drinking and smoking, we all ended up just hanging out at the cigar shop until 6am. I never had time for friends before, this is fuckin awesome.
Also I'm taking my neurotic 40 lb dog to meet her big 100+lb dogs tonight to see if they get along...
Wish us luck.
