I saw that this thread hadn't been posted lately. I'm new so I'm going to post my "Top 5 favorite artists" (see the movie "High Fidelity" to see why it's 5). I'll state that I'm 51 and I've been a part-time DJ (radio and club) for many years.

Top 5 - no order:

Tangerine Dream
Pink Floyd
Grateful Dead
Prince
John Coltrane

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin

Johnny Cash
Nirvana

This was tough because there are probably 25-30 more that could easily make the list depending on my mood.

This was harder than I thought. In the end I picked bands that seem to have always been a staple in my regular rotation (for one reason or another - some are genius, others just rock ). In no order;

Aerosmith (early stuff)
Zeppelin
NIN
The Cult
Pink Floyd
Rolling Stones
Clapton
The Stooges
Alice in Chains
AC/DC

Finally another jazz lover. I thought I might be the only one. The young kids today don't seem to listen to much after the mid-80's. My brother was excited when his youngest (16) asked him about Rush a few weeks ago.
