I see what you guys are saying, but I don't think JD's above and beyond customer service should prevent anyone from ever creating a thread about something crappy that happened to their DE cigars.

The blame clearly wasn't placed on DE, he didn't mention the vendor and is going through proper measure to have this rectified. Can't a guy just share something crappy that happened with his cigar brethren?

Just my thoughts on the matter. :)

It has not been that cold in NY for cold temps to dry them out in a matter of days. Cigars are far more resilient than people give them credit for. Those sticks look like they have been dry for some time and being Drew Estates has not had much of any T-52s to ship in some time I am willing to bet your vendors storage had more to do with it than anything else. I have never ever seen Ligas look anything like that and I've been smoking them at a good rate for some time now. Maybe they kept it out in a window display.

To me this is an issue that is between your vendor and you. I don't see how this has anything to do with the type of box that was sent and seems like a weird title to post and bring attention to. Perhaps it has something to do with JD going above and beyond to help his customers out. But I can't see anything that is anything more than poor packing or poor storage from your vendor.

And in that case, it seems odd that the complaint would be posted publicly and not dealt privately between you and the vendor. Now after dealing with the vendor and if you did not get the issue resolved, I would understand a post with the vendor's name if you have a valid complaint and didn't want other brothers to experience the same poor customer service.

Maybe it is just me, but I don't see the reason for this thread.
I didn't post this thread to get anything effing free from anyone on this site. I posted what I got shipped...plain and simple.

Had it been a box of "shit" shipped to me, the title would've read: Box of ruined "shit"...

Sorry that my experience doesnt warrant a thread in your opinion...I can live with that

It looks like he is just upset his cigars were sent damaged. A box of T52's isn't a cheap purchase, and I don't blame him for wanting to put up a post about it. It's more when other people chime in with the "JD will take care of him!" statements that it starts to get fishy.

all I am saying is that we still don't know who the vendor is, but know what cigar it is.

Just sayin'. Post what you want, never said you shouldn't. Rather, I just don't see the point of the title.

Cheers and hope it gets resolved for you.

I'm with you on this one. Pretty sure we all know it's not the fault of the manufacturer. I would be upset as well. Even if the vendor refunds the money I still wouldn't order from them again.

+1 here. This is 100% on the vendor. I would never order from them again and I would rat the bastage out as well.

I just got off the phone with the vendor...

They said it was either the cold that dried them out or that it was just a bad box.

They're sending me a shipping label so I can ship them back for their inspection...guy said chances are they will refund my money.

I also sent him a pic of them but didn't get a reply.

They were shipped from NY, arrived today along with the Undercrown Gorditos that came from PA...the Undercrowns were in perfect shape.

The box of T52s are drier than my grandparents Christmas tree 3 months after Christmas :hanghead:

Edit to add: The box was sealed and wrapped in plastic...
They look more dry than Betty White.

that is what I got.

one, if I am getting a box of liga, or anejo, or tat's, I am looking forward to them! if it got boned for any issue, I would bemoan those specific cigars. hell, would we have cared if it was a box of Gurkha?

two, he said vendor issue right off the bat, and never tried to put this on DE. had he said "every box I get is like this", or "I have had so many bad T52's..." I would call foul.

three, everyone needs to bitch about a bad day. helps to vent. it is natural.

just what I am seeing here.

Could not have said it better myself. Completely agree.

I got a cab of Epernay like this last year. Bummer, but the shop exchanged them for me (well, the 18 that were damaged out of the cab). Sucks, but it happens. Hopefully this gets sorted soon! Any reputable shop will exchange them (or refund if they don't have any more).

I ordered a few boxes of cigars for myself for Xmas and was excited to still find the T52s...
So when I seen the contents of the box after spending $270, I was ready to choke some one out.
I see it like this, if a kid opens a present on Xmas morning and finds a dead pup inside, he doesnt blame the pups mother, he bitch slaps the azzhat that forgot to punch holes in the box...
In my case, the azzhat was the vendor.

Here is exactly how it was packed...Nothing on the top/bottom or two sides

I'm always irked when I get cigars dumped in the bottom of the box with no packing material underneath them. It makes no sense, yet it happens all the time, even from large and well-respected e-tailers.

Take a look at the videos at the bottom of this post. This is what carriers do to packages, and vendors should be packing our cigars to survive that kind of abuse.

Maybe we should start a "post a photo of how your cigars were packaged" thread to see which vendors pack well and which don't.

Ouch...that's ugly. I might cry now. Glad the vendor is going to take care of you, but they should have done so the first time around. If they replace them I'd be leery given the condition of these cigars. You might end up in the same predicament.

Judging from the cracked caps and the positioning of the box in the above photo, I'm going to guess that it was damaged in shipment...probably dropped the box or something struck it on the left hand side. Shipping paper/bubble wrap all the way around with the box in the center of the shipping box would have most liklely prevented this from happening. At least the retailer seems like they are going to take responsibility, which is good.

IMO... I Kinda of agree with this... he never mentioned the vendors name. I couldn't image something like this ever being allowed out of DE's warehouse...
