To all the wonderers- what are you waiting for?! These are that good!! Yes taste is subjective but these are amazing IMO, starts off with a nice peppery spice which flows under about an inch in and is complemented with this underlying sweetness which comes in and that is joined by a bitter coffee element at the end. With all this, the finish is totally pleasant. I know this is a limited run and only hope that the other sizes have the same type profile. G1

Smoked one over the weekend. I think they need 6mo's! Don't get me wrong.
I think these will be phenomenal in 6 mo's sort of like the Viaje LE Releases.

Disagree. These are smoking great now whereas most Viaje's don't start smoking well, if they ever do, till they're down at least a year. Not to say the
HG won't be fantastic in 6 months but these definitely don't "need" any rest. G1

Hey I'm just appreciative that you all here are smoking Headley Grange--I welcome your input. Thank you.

That said, I just have to 'vent' a little here (we are all BOTLs here, right?). I know that not every cigar is for every person; however, today I read a review on Headley Grange that basically cited it as having "excellent draw," "excellent construction," and "high complexity." But concluded with "..but it's not for me."

Tell me--what /else/ do you look for in a good cigar (draw, construction, complexity)? LOL

Then I read another take on HG...which the 'reviewer' said the "flavors disappeared" in the 2nd half. ??? I've smoked more Headley Grange cigars (fact) that just about anyone on this planet--and I have NEVER had the flavors "disappear" in the 2nd half. To the contrary, I think one could make the argument that the flavors actually /build/ as you smoke HG.

I dunno...like I said--just 'venting.' Thanks for listening and thanks for smoking Headley Grange & Four Kicks.

FWIW, it sounds like the person was stating that the flavor profile was not his preference? mind, having not read the review in question.

and, hey, if everyone loves it, it is not excellent, but just OK. you made an excellent cigar, in my and many others' opinions, and it seems to be a fight to get these so far. you done good, and i thank you. o)

You will not find any shortage of Headley Grange love on this forum. I think that part of the downside to having a great cigar with great reviews and a lot of hype is that people start to have such high expectations and expect it to be their perfect cigar. I would assume this leads certain reviewers to just try to find a way to bring it down... I mean flavors don't disappear, they change and transition. And the one that doesn't like cigars with excellent draw, excellent construction, and high complexity.. well I would be willing to trade any of my poorly constructed, bland, plugged cigars for his Headley Grange (or similar) anyday :). Without having read the review I assume they just didn't articulate what flavors they experienced with the cigar well and preferred a different flavor profile.

I really enjoy Headley Grange, so thank you for your part in creating that! Being that I am a newbie compared to a lot of people on this forum, Headley Grange actually lead me to four kicks which I found I really enjoy as well (and also having a member here with the name fourkicksfan) and now both are staples in my humidor. Also, was able to pick up a box the Mule Kick today and can't wait to try it :)

Jon,
I think the fact that you got so worked up over these reviews speaks to, at least myself, why so many love your cigars. It's you and your crews passion for your cigars. The fact that you aren't above coming down to us little guys and thanking us for smoking your cigar, when we could smoke any number of them that are out there, and trust me there are more and more by the day. One of the most important things to me in my decision to smoke something is consistency. I know every time I pick up a Crowned Heads stick, I will get what I came looking for. And that is a superb product. It's okay to get frustrated because you then know its still for the right reasons.

I'm out of town right now, but can't wait to tear into my Mule Kick this weekend when I get home. Like the ones that have come before it, I know for a fact I'll be blown away!!! Thanks you guys for awesome smokes!!!!

fourkicksfan - First off, congrats on the excellent choice of screen names.

Secondly, you are dead right--how could I /not/ get worked up--and, yeah, these /are/ my/our babies. A lot of passion, energy, and time went into developing our brands/blends. Here's a true story: last night, I woke up at 3:37am with a thought of a blend I wanted Ernesto to roll so I could smoke and evaluate for a potential 2013 brand. I live and breathe this stuff--you can't fake it. So yeah, it kinda gets my goat when some self-proclaimed expert takes a jab that I perceive as unwarranted.

With some (not all) bloggers/reviewers I kind of look at them as art critics--those that can paint/sculpt/create DO...those that can't become 'critics.' I understand that those critics are necessary to our business; however, with that comes a responsibility. Being 'contra' for the sake of being 'contra' and trying to look 'cool' seems to me an abuse of that responsibility. Example: I read someone's review of the EPC Inch a while ago. The first sentence of that review started with, "..I am not a fan of big ring gauge cigars." So then WHY are you reviewing a cigar that is marketed and based entirely upon large ring gauges?! That review went on to slam the cigar and it was 'awarded' a very lackluster score of '82.' Why?

Thanks again to all of you for your words of encouragement and support. It means alot.
