Four Roses is my brand. Take this down, word for word, and seek it out: The Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition Barrel Strength 2012 release. Absolutely sublime. The 2010 iteration of this is also excellent, but almost impossible to find now. I'm also working on a bottle of the 2012 Limited Edition Single Barrel, which is very, very nice. My holy grail is the Four Roses Super Premium, which is only sold in Japanese markets (I had a unique opportunity to taste some of this at the FR distillery eariler this year). Like velvet. (God, I love bourbon. Now someone ask about rum! A good sipping rum goes amazingly with a cigar! OK, I'm not waiting for it. Ron Zacapa XO... or the El Dorado 12-year-old. Get 'em, pour 'em, light up, sip, puff, repeat.)

For an everyday bourbon I will agree with the others who choose the Four Roses, great bourbon, great people, great distillery. For those special occasions it would be Pappy, PHC, or BTAC.

Best regards, Tony

George T Stagg is my favorite that I've tried. But I do have a bottle left of Vintage 17yr that is kind of expensive, but I got it on sale and it's great. For every day, I usually go with Wild Turkey 101. I know, not one of the fancy ones, but I like it. Or the Russel's Reserve- I like it too. Finally, the Eagle Rare is hard to beat for the price! BTW- if anybody can get the George T Stagg, I'm willing to pay and throw in some good cigars!!

Reviving an old post but the biggest liquor store I have ever seen opened by me last December and it has great prices. I have been using the opportunity to expand my experience in Bourbons. I always enjoyed Makers and Woodford. New ones I have tried in the last 3 months - in order of preference:

Willets Small Batch - my favorite by far
Blantons Single Barrel - very good
Knob Creek - very good - on par with Woodford & Makers
Four Roses Single Barrel - didn't really care for it
Elijah Craig 12 - just not for me.

Sorry - no pictures!

Old thread and before I joined but I've seen at least 20 newb trades since I landed so maybe others will chime in. Stagg is my favorite woodford double Oaked which just returned to shelves and buffalo trace is a great daily at the price point. everything else is time and place and availability... And I've not had any of the van winkles yet.

Funny you mention Woodford Double Oaked back on the shelves. The couple liquor stores I frequent say it really doesn't move that well. I stick with the standard Woodford because I don't want to pay the extra for the double oaked.

I'm just starting to get into bourbon, but the Rowan's Creek bourbon the WB generously gifted me for my b-day is freakin' fabulous. I also like Makers 46 & Four Roses Single Barrel.

Another great priced bourbon is Eagle Rare for everyday drinking. Especially when it is on sale. I also got Jeffersons at a decent price on sale which was tasty.
