So ICPCR is right around the corner and these were supposed to be released in conjunction with the event but I haven't heard so much as a mouse fart about these as the release nears. Being that the first ones were so good I figure that i have to get some of these as well and I'll most likely end up shelling out the dough for more than a jar if I can find that many. Anybody out there have any additional info on these? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

The original DES were really good. I agree - it was one of the Viaje blends that I enjoyed. All that I know is that the jar will come with 19 cigars, similar to the Tatuaje Black CG release. It's interesting that Viaje decided on this packaging the same year as the new release of the Tatuaje Black CGs in jars.

I thought the OR DES was probably the single greatest Viaje blend to date and I'd put it in my top 5 cigars, all time. I'm hoping that this blend matches the first but I think that will be difficult to do. Especially after I found the "Super Lance" to be such a large disappointment. But in case they are, I better try to grab 2 jars then, lol.

I agree that it is strange that they'd do a jar release twice in one year after not doing one in so long. I'm interested to see how the new CGs are as well but I'm not in as much of a rush to grab any. I thought they were solid if somewhat unspectacular sticks. I still have a few lying around so it might be time to give em another whirl. Put me down for a fiver or 2 of the new ones perhaps.

Didn't get to smoke the original DES. And I was a little hesitant on the new one. But after hearing your opinion I think I may have a renewed interest.

Viaje is such a hit or miss brand imo. Farkas puts out an amazing release like the original DES and others then has huge disappointments. All that is obviously my .02 and everyone has their own opinion.

With that said, if I can get my hands on a jar ill get it.

Hey, im a sucker for jars :ccowboy:

And another thing, Viaje releases so many damn sticks it makes my freakin head spin. Congrats to anyone who can follow all the releases. My hats off to you lol

With all cigars YMMV. The original DES happened to be one of the smokes that IMO I found to be as good or better than any review I had read, and I didn't see any reviews that gave the stick anything lower than a 92. So often it seems like something will get a fantastic review then I'll smoke it and wonder where the hell the score came from. Based on my enjoyment of the original blend I'm all in on these and am sincerely hoping that they live up to the OR.

Smoke inn has the jars available for pre order. 353.95.
Wow. Is Viaje kidding me with this garbage? 18.42 per cigar? So basically, these are more expensive cigars than any DE or Tat release in approximately ever and are slightly more expensive than a Padron Family Reserve. I've been a vocal supporter of Viaje in the past but this will change my opinion of them as a brand pretty damn quickly. I'm hoping that this is just one shop charging more than MSRP instead of these being $8 and change more expensive than the previous release.

Yeah its pretty absurd. I wasn't expecting it to be that much, and if I have to chose between that and the Tat jar, I'm picking the Tat. Even though they'll probably be a pain to get

Both Smoke Inn and Podman are charging this so sounds like that's the price. 5 packs for $93. I was excited about this also but I am out now after seeing this

There's a new Tat jar coming? I must be out of the loop here. I know the last jar was right around $250, I can always hope that the price would stay the same. And then I can hope that I can magically actually get some.

Back to the DES 2: I had a few drinkies last night and I was a tad angry when I saw the price. I'm not so much pissed anymore as I am astonished. Considering Viaje's spot in the marketplace I didn't know that they could even justify pricing like this.

A lot of you guys, know that I used to be a very big Viaje supporter! I've spent I don't know
how many thousands of dollars on his cigars. As far as I'm concerned, FUCK ANDRE FARKAS!
He's all hype, and very little substance! I don't care to buy another viaje the rest of my life!

I agree. I love Viaje but that price tag is ridiculous and won't be getting any. Rather spend my money on Tat or DE with that price tag. And I can't justify $93 for 5 cigars.

Yep...Fartass can suck it! I loved the OR DES but $18+ for the new ones are fucking rediculas and you don't even know if it's that good to begin with. This is one cigar I know for sure now I will not seek out. 95% of is shit is overrated, overhyped, and overpriced....Kiss my ass!

I was still wishy washy on whether or not I should just buy them anyway regardless of price because I enjoyed the OR so much. Then I realized that I can get a box of four kicks from a site I frequent for as low as $140, I can put an ISO up for Tat NHC Capa Especials and probably land them for $150 and have enough for 3 coffins of Tat Old Man and the C. So 52 cigars that I know I love for the price of 19 DES 2. And obviously since it's a Viaje release, there is no way of knowing whether these rule face or suck ass. So yeah, I'm out on these.

The worst part is that if I get them and I don't like them well guess what? I'm fucked sideways is what. Nobody is buying these damn things for that price regardless if it is a jar release or not. If they were $250, then no question I'm in all day long - and I'm getting 2 jars. I'd grab at least one jar at $280 but that is about my limit.

Whatever is going on, I might be off Viaje forever in the aftermath of this debacle. Not cool.

Wow Bro! I know you're a big Viaje fan, I was, and still was kind of, but after this? Hard to stay with them, no doubt! Shocking is what it is!

I have been a Viaje whore since the 2010 "?" SnB release, have searched out, bought, and traded for them. Thanks to the Zombie SS and my local, I am also done with Viaje. In order to buy the box of SS Zombies, I would have had to purchase a box of the Super Lance (both about $25 above internet advertised pricing)... haven't been back in that B&M, noR spent a dime on Viaje since.

The hit/miss thing is why I am not about to buy 2 boxes of a cigar that is most likely good but not great. Chances of one of them being great is slim, 2 boxes back to back... Don't see that happening. I understand the box purchase in order to buy a limited release, but shit, every Farkas release is "limited"

All that to say, while I will enjoy the remaining Viajes I have (some of which are really smoking good about now) I will not be searching out or shelling out for the Jar release.

I do hope that if someone gets their hands on some, a review will be posted up though.

I am not done with Viaje. I do still enjoy a lot of his cigars (especially the zombie ss) but I have never been one to go above and beyond to search for his stuff. I do refuse to pay $18 for a Viaje cigar since I've never had one worth that price. The crazy thing is people will buy them and they will sell out quickly like always

The shit of it is that the Super Lance isn't all that good and needs at least a year of slumber so you dodged a bullet on that one. But none the less its a shame that they seem to be alienating more of their intended consumers than they are embracing them. With this release its seems as though they knew they had something on their hands and wanted to charge a ridiculously premium price based on that. That doesn't sound much like a company who gives a shit about their consumers that sounds like a group of price gouging assholes.
