  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Just curious, is there a poll that has been done to see how many let the cello on and how many let the cello off during a rest in the humi? I don't want to start the age old debate about the subject, just curious how many do what they do. I tried an experiment a couple months ago and I must say, the stogie swore much smoother tasting without the cello. Even the cheaper ones had better taste to me. But I am still stuck in the proverbial rut of letting the cello on.
The poll I would like to see would let room for a quick comment on why you do what you do, but short answers and no debates... Just a thought, I would be very interested in the outcome....

Depends on the day of the week :)

I used to religiously take the cello off...

These days, for the most part I just leave it on..

But occasionally will get a wild hair and decide to remove cello from some singles.. whenever I put new stock in the humi..

I honestly can not tell a difference over short term aging (a year or two).. maybe it would matter more if I let things sit that long?

If it goes in a spot where it may touch stogies with no cello then it comes off. If it goes in with other cello sticks it stays on.

The people who make them know way better than I do. They go in the humidor the way I get them.
Many times the supplier puts cello on them for shipment and doesn't have anything to do with storage. So I think it just comes down to preference. They age faster without cello and I like the cedar hint the humidor places in the sticks.

Yup. Cut the foot for optimum circulation, leave the sleeve on to protect the wrapper. Best of both worlds.

Cello is a good protection for cigars....as was said I cut off both ends so that the tobacco is exposed to as much humidified air as possible. The debate about cello is like the chicken and the egg...there are no studies associated with the results as to how they help aging/resting....lol @Icehog and even if there was such a study I'd love to read it since I know it would be fiction.
