I am an intel officer (Yes I went over to the dark side. You?) serving with air assault light infantry. I think I will be making the change to infantry or civil affairs if I stay in the army.

I haven't worked a day in theatre in an intel capacity. For those of y'all who don't know, the army has a great way of sticking us with jobs that they didn't train us for. I have been working with the civil affairs guys (an agumentee to their team) trying to stand up some semblance of a government in our province.

When I was in, I was a 55 Bravo (Ammunition Specialist) I was trained in all sorts of cool stuff like sling loads, ASP control, munitions maintenance...anything and everything to do with things that go bang.

First assingment was in Panama during Operation Just Cause. Was stuck doing Graves Registry. Go Figure.

I'm a 19D, stuck in a medhold unit at the moment...I spent some time in another place (tell ya more about it in 24 more years or so okemyeye), and got pretty messed up...While I'm here though, I've been using the down time to start my Green to Gold packet...I've got the prereq college hours, so I just need to get approval from the CoC here, and a few letters of reccomendation...Then I'll go back to school, finish my CJ and History degrees, and come back as a 19Z (I think that's the designator)...

You've probably got a couple of my scouts workin PSD teams with your CA unit over there...That seems to be what most the scouts on that side of the globe are doing..

The designation is 19A I believe. The Zulu id is for SMG/CSMs...isn't it?

I know the 19D species quite well actually. Worked with a bunch in the RSTAs that the Division now has. 19Ds worked quite well with the 11Bs in the BN (hey they basically got the same mission now a days), just as long as the Cav guys didn't say "if you ain't Cav, you ain't $#!%" too much.

I have a buddy who came down on orders for drill, we give him a hard time about being a drill for a bunch of 19Ks (he didn't like that at all).

Good luck on the G to G, just make sure you know what you want if you become commissioned (less Soldier time, more staff time). But if it is time for a change why not?

Ft Sam Houston? Nice, real nice, I hope you are taking full advantage of that post.

Stuck working with DATs eh? Poor guy....poor poor guy....He probably goes home every night and just slams his head in the refridgerator door a few dozen times :hammersma :laugh:

I've had my combat run, did my bit...I'll get in at least 1 more year of combat as butter bar, in the Cav they usually stick those guys as platoon leaders, so, I'll have my dick in the dirt until I hit Capt. and take over a Troop...19A sounds right on the designator....You are right about Zulu being for CSMs...

Definately taking advantage of Ft Sam, this place is soooo laid back, and this med hold unit is like boy scout camp compared to a Cavalry line unit...It's a vacation, but I earned it...hah....
