Warning: Bitchiness Ahead

Having been a part of a number of successful box passes here at BOTL I thought it would be fun to start one myself in a Facebook group. It started well enough; I loaded the box with 20 great sticks, booze, stickers, patches and on it went. The first few stops went well, but things quickly deteriorated. All of a sudden is was a calamity of errors; so much so that although the pass was only about half done we're ending it and the box is on it's way home.

This pass has seen it all though: people on vacation, the box lost by USPS, people putting the wrong address, taking amazing smokes and replacing with shit, box left in the rain, ziplock with holes in it, and on and on. It just amazes me how all off the passes I've been part of here have went flawlessly and the moment I try to bring the love to a group that has never done one it BLOWS UP IN MY FACE.

Live and learn though right? Tell you one thing it really makes me appreciate all the stellar individuals here @BOTL!!

I know exactly what group your talking about. Lol. Dude, BOTL is a different breed. We are all held accountable and if shit isn't done right you are called out. I'm sorry to here this but I have had the same issues on that group. It breaks my heart but it's life.

That's what happens when you cheat on BOTL! Jk Jay, saw a little bit of the shenanigans of that pass, sucks big time. This place is quite unique and extremely hard to replicate. Glad you are here though and able have faith in the brothers.
Woah woah if you saw a bit than it means you cheat too ;-)

I do have faith in you all though I promise to stay true lol

I think if the community here had more a focus on the millenials and less on the old guard, you'd likely see those same issues. Things are generally better managed with people who've been doing it a while and in such cases they seem to focus mostly on the regulars so they know each other. Likely the reasons they are the typical bomb targets too. That obviously has a con to it in any regard, and likewise that clique mentality is often prevalent on forums. So it's a huge trade off, but in return things have more structure.. That is until the new start something themselves.

Dude, a lot of the acceptance for the new fellas comes from what they chose to, or not to, post as well. In no way do I think there are cliques here. My opinion, take it FWIW.

I gotta agree for the longest I just lurked didn't contribute, but when I started getting more involved I was taken in wholeheartedly. What you see as cliques are just the guys that communicate with each other more. I'm coming up on a year and I've been bombed done some bombing learned a ton about cigars and pipes nothing but a great time.

^^^^What he said (Doug)(King Kill 33)
I, by no means, am a clique type of guy. That being said; in any forum where there are thousands of members you can't be a friend to all or agree with all. Yes, there will be disagreement, banter and down right ball breaking but that's the fun of it. I have a few great BOTL's on this site that I like to believe to be cyber friends of mine that one day I would like to meet up and herf. There are some that will be very unlikely to happen such as Doug^^^. Great guy but I doubt I'll be visiting Minot, ND or he visiting New York (Unless it's for a Met Game :ccool: which I will be glad to host). Because I have a select few "friends" on here does not mean that we are a clique. They have friends in their circles that I am not friends with. We don't exclude anyone from our Chat time banter or post ribbing. When we have a group bombing it's open to all. I'm getting a little long winded so I'll conclude by saying all one has to do is be themselves and they will find a group of like individuals that they call their friends.

I'm still new here IMO, and I've been part of two or three box passes, sent out several bombs, and been bombed in return a few times so I don't feel it's anything to do with being "cliqueish" I have been burned once on a trade but it is what it is, I think the guys on here are just more respectful in general than what I've seen elsewhere. Sorry to hear about the issues with the FB group but those things happen. My .02

My point indicating cliques and associated arrogance or exclusion was a general indicator of forums in general, along with large groups that have set ways of doing things and have more notable members versus others. It is natural to be cliquish of a sort, but the point was not a label towards this community in particular, so much as on and offline communities in general. There will always be outliers and misnomers and whether or not this is one of them is not my place to judge at the moment, nor is my intention to do, merely to point out that in general communities that are more informal and thus less structured, the rules are often not... Enforced nor well established, especially with those you dont know very well, and when there's not much of a consequence.

It's appalling that your contribution was disrespected, in regards to the OP, but I would think it'd have been a surprise, albeit a pleasant one, if it had been. Props for trying. I dont think your experience should sour you from trying again, just be sure youre okay with it if it does. That being said, being as cynical as me is boring, so maybe not everyone sucks and you should just try again! :kissforeh

#1 stay away from doctors:)
Doctors aren't the problem it's the 2-3 months stays in the hospital after they get done with you. I've got close to 1,000 staples holding my guts together along with who knows many feet of sutures. I set off the airport detectors about 25% of the time.
