I think our list would be interesting, but I might hesitate to have it done without some idea of blind test being involved. Too many people like or dislike what's seen as popular, more so than what's quality. I'm certainly in that category, as I've got a lot of smokes that aren't amazing, but have a ton of hype behind them. When I sit down to it, a lot of the popular smokes aren't the best. Others are also undervalued, and I don't really give them a chance to prove themselves either due to reluctance or sheer lack of desire.

I mean, I really like Liga stuff, but, I don't think its as good as it would end up being here. There are many other cigars that I think are pretty mediocre that some hunt to no end. It would be an interesting exercise to do, but I would value the opinion of some nominated or a panel more so than a massive pole.

So much for the conspiracy theory that the amount of advertising dollars a company spends with CA gets them their rating!!! I think the list is great every year. Even if I don't personally agree with it, it still creates interest and buzz which is great for the industry. That being said when a Monte #2 is on its game it's pretty damn tasty!!! 😊

Feel bad for Pete. He had several absolutely stellar cigars this year. The CQ1, Noella and Regios Reserva, L'At 44MAD, and 46SS... all were stellar.

I couldn't agree more.

I'm very surprised that none of his offerings made the top 10.
Im sure hell be in the top 25 at least.

And these cigars of the year are impossible to guess haha. Cool list though

If you follow him on Instagram, I think you'll see he shares that sentiment. The post gave me a good laugh.

I watched all the videos which were quite painful, yes I know your name and title Gordon, sheez. I have two questions.

First- in the Aging Room video Gordon describes the flavor of the cigar as balanced and sophisticated. Can someone please tell me what those taste like cause that doesn't help me in anyway from a review standpoint.

Second- This is a naive noob question, but how are they able to openly possess & smoke cuban cigars in their New York office and post videos about this contraband year after year and not get slammed? Yes, I know I have way too much time on my hands.

Not a noob question at all. A bunch of well-experienced guys were discussing this at one of our HERFs. Nobody had any clue how that works.

Great post and I agree entirely... it's tricky with the Monte #2 though as it isn't know for its consistency as you elude to.

And your last word.... yeah, what can I help you with? :)

Bingo, now we just have to find out the box code of the year that they rated and see if its as consistant as they say... that being said the price of the 2's and quality will drop this upcoming year because of demand from the list so get them while they are hot! lol

Slammed by whom? The feds aren't even enforcing marijuana laws in two states. They aren't going to kick in the doors of an office of a magazine to find 6 cuban cigars. Now if they were distributing that would be different.
