Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
Argh! I ordered one, but instead of getting the hygrometer remotes, I got the temp only remotes. If you want to go a little more high end, you can get a wireless system. I just bought this system for my cabinet humi and have 3 wireless sensors placed in the cabinet and I have one readout sitting on my desk. You can calibrate the readouts and it also shows min/max for temp/Rh. The min/max shows all time until you reset it, not every 24 hours like the Acu Rite. I don't like this but it's still nice to have.
It was cheapest for me to order direct from the site and you can mix/match for how many sensors and readouts you prefer.

But for a wineador, I think the Acu Rite or Hygro is just fine unless you prefer to just see a readout at your desk etc.
What do you guys think about this for a Hygrometer pack? The price is right for me because I need more than one. Good deal?If you want to go a little more high end, you can get a wireless system. I have been using an ambient weather model for about 1-1/2 years and have been very happy with it. You are not able to calibrate the individual sensors but you are able to change the display on the control unit so that the reading you get makes up for any difference in humidity. In other words you do a calibration by getting the remote sensors stable in a 75% environment and then adjust the desktop control unit to read 75% for each of the remote sensors. It's really quite simple and very accurate.Sorry for the old thread bump, figured it was better than starting a new one.

" +/-5% rh"how about these? They look like they are adjustable.

Thanks for the info, that helps. Yeah I don't have the need to monitor a large amount yet, this is only for a small wineador and it has 2 storage compartments so I would need one for each. My collection is still very small but at $5 a pop these should work fine.I have been using an ambient weather model for about 1-1/2 years and have been very happy with it. The unit that I am using is no longer made but if I were to buy one today I would go with this one http://www.ambientweather.com/amws08x4kit.html It will read up to 8 remote locations and you can buy it with anywhere from 2 to 8 remote sensors.
WS-08-X2 (2 sensors) $38.99
WS-08-X3 (3 sensors) $47.99
WS-08-X4 $56.49
WS-08-X5 $65.99
WS-08-X6 $75.49
WS-08-X7 $83.99
WS-08-X8 $93.49
If budget is a concern or you do not have the need to monitor a large amount of cigars in multiple locations (yet) you can always buy one of the kits with fewer sensors and add additional sensors later (up to 8 total).
The main benefit for me was that I no longer need to open my humidors in order to check the humidity which allows them to be more stable long term. I also have all my readings in one spot on my desk so all I have to do hit a button and I can scroll from sensor to sensor. Also cost wise if you compare this to individual hygrometers at $13 each it works out to be about the same (4 unit Ambient Weather unit = $56.49 / 4x hygrosets @ $13 each = $52)
The added convenience makes this a sure winner for me.
Still new here, so basically they would be about 5% +/-? So I could put them in a zip lock bag with a 70% Boveda pack for a few days and see what it reads at and then always remember how much they are off by, correct?" +/-5% rh"how about these? They look like they are adjustable.

No. when calibrating your hygrometer you always calibrate it to 75%. That is the proven humidity of salt in a saturated solution (if you do the salt test) as well as the humidity level of the Boveda calibration kits. basically you line your hygrometer up with a known number (75%) so that you know it is accurate. Then you place it in your humidor to monitor whatever humidity level you decide to maintain. Once calibrated, If your humidor is at 70% the hygrometer will read 70%, if your humidor is at 65% it will read 65% etc. 75% is used to calibrate it though because that is the most certain number that can be generated. Most digital hygrometers automatically re-set to 75% for this reason.Still new here, so basically they would be about 5% +/-?
