I say give me another month or two and I'm ready to be a sponsor due to my cellar. However I have a less than "beginner" type selection of baccy. I have a lot of strong and or potentially intimidating blends that I've bought so far. I'm a fan of the more intense stuff personally and I do not own any aromatics that I've bought myself. So if we have a newb willing to do a trade with a non-aromatic selection of pipe tobacco I'm up to play. However like I said, give me about a month or two. Lots of things going on in my house right now, complicated things, and I need to work through that before I start to help fund the USPS again haha.

CH, or any old codger burly, or any burly really, are great for breaking in a pipe. also, it burns really well, and is a good practice run for learning packing, pacing, and maintaining burn. also also, it is such a laid back flavor that it is good for learning how to spot flavor and texture in pipe tobacco.
Yes. This. Start with the CH. Learn to pack, light etc. Then also use the CH to mix with blends u may not like to change the flavors.
Do I take the filter out of the cob stem or leave it in?

That parts completely up to you, I've taken them out of mine personally.

What exactly does it filter? I mean your not inhaling so just rogue tobacco that comes up the stem? Does it change the taste? Sorry but Im a true noob to this. Watched a bunch of vids but never seen mention of a filter.

a paper filter acts as an trapping surface for liquids (like the aerosolized oils in the tobacco smoke?), and can make things smoother and drier. if you inhale.

as we are mostly cigar folk first, the idea of removing said oils is awfully counterintuitive, and mine are pitched IMMEDIATELY. but, hell, you have one, couldn't hurt to try.

Utah you have Irie. Hook up with him. I don't think anyone else is waiting.

I have been doing a horrible job at trying to update from Tapatalk. Fat fingers or something. And i can't get to my computer much to edit and update.

This thread is important to me, I feel that we have and will start some good brothers down the path of the briar. It isn't the fastest thread here on BOTL but I think it is important.

So with that said I am looking for someone to take this thread over. If no interest I will maintain it. If you are interested please PM me.

Yeah buddy!
Now, before you know it, the local Tobacco so blends won't cut it for you anymore and you'll be sitting on 10-20lb cellar like some of these other fine gentlemen!
I am ready getting there with the local shop blends. This place has opened a whole new world of baccy! And I am just starting!

You received an eclectic mix for sure rfraser! The fruit aromatics and the 1792 can ghost a pipe something fierce, so make good use of that cob.

jrvoiner dropped a pile in my lap at the beginning of this week:

this is more than a little overboard for this setting, dude! pipe tobacco is mainly cheap, and (even though half qualify as budget), you went kinda nuts. not like i have never been there, though. o)

the la floridita and oliva saison are new to me, and the rest is just so much consistently good regular production shit, i don't know where to start, but the selection is superlative.

this did hit me monday (?), but between work and actually planning a response to this, it's taken me a minute to post. i should god willing have a response in the post mañana, sir, and i thank you!

Glad you like the "3" traders and their body guards, The My Father Lancero is an exclusive blend for a local shop called Up in Smoke.
