You know, the more I thought about it today, the more I believe the cold was to blame. Might be some flimsy assumptions here, but I hypothesize that:

1 - Taking the cigar out of my humi at 68* and 66% straight out into a 15* and ZERO humidity environment was too rapid and drastic of an environment change.
2 - The disparity between the ambient temperature, which was probably rapidly cooling parts of the cigar that weren't burning, and the lit end was too great
3 - The ambient temperature and lack of humidity may have caused some of the moisture in the cigar to partially freeze, the same way water vapor in exhaled breath freezes or boiling water tossed into the air turns instantly into ice crystals.

-OR-

I am just full of BS. (Occam's Razor, anyone?)

The burn issues were far beyond just an uneven burn, the wrapper actually separated from the binder at one point. Never had that happen. So, this all had to have an impact on flavor as well. Has anyone else experienced problems smoking in extreme cold? (Or do you all smoke indoors like reasonable people?)

Don't want to be unfair to the cigar. I have another in my humidor and will definitely give it a shot again. Until then, I may try to light up a PSD4 tonight to test my hypothesis ;)
I haven't had it happen in the extreme cold but have had issues in the heat not letting the cigar rest in the ambient temp/humidity. Last winter I smoked inside & don't forsee "braving" the cold this winter.

Last night: Illusione Singularé EL "Phantom". I think these were from 2008? With extreme thanks to @hogfarmer. This was one of the few sticks I have left from my noob trade when I first joined, which he sponsored. I have to say this is one of the top 5 sticks I have smoked in the past year. Thanks much brother!
