What do you use to restore the finish on the briar?
I start by cleaning it with spit (no one is going to want one of my estates after admitting that!), a tooth brush, and a Microfiber towel. Once the briar is clean I polish using a solid block of Carnauba wax and a buffing wheel on my drill mounted in a vice.

TOYS from Smokingpipes.com - yay lol!

Savinelli "Sigla"
This Poker/bent Billiard cross-breed has a deep, very dark finish that only subtly hints at underlying reddish tones. It is sized somewhat smaller than other freehand lines but nonetheless is well proportioned and by no means petite.

I'm loving that pipe brother! I'm quite fond of pokers though and that one is a damn fine example imo.

Thanks man - I am super excited to give it a smoke... I can just tell it's going to smoke well :).

Weird question. The reason I feel like it's going to smoke well is because it seemingly has the most open draw of all my pipes. But is that even possible? I mean 6mm is 6mm right? It seems silly - but I just feels more open?

There is a lot more to the draw than the diameter it was drilled... Geometry of the pipe, how the stem is finished where it goes into the shank, etc. there's quite a bit of science that goes into pipes that is far beyond me. I've been studying up on it and have contemplated trying to make a pipe from one of the kits you can buy with pre-drilled blocks but I already have too many irons in the fire.

Hey thanks! I kind of felt silly asking that, but it's just so pronounced that... Looks like I need to do some homework. The science behind it sounds fascinating really.

As to too many irons in the fire, know this; you aren't alone :).

Thanks again.

What's the shape number of that pipe? Thanks.
