I keep saltwater reef aquariums. Today I'm finishing a stand that I purchased, unfinished, to go with the new tank I got to replace my existing one. Stand is in the background of the pic I just posted in the today's smoke thread. I'll post up a new shot later today.

Any recommendations on a good starter pistol? I've shot a few revolvers and stuff, but want to work on my CCL sometime soon.
Such a loaded question. If you plan to carry a gun then even more goes into it. First ask yourself how do you plan to carry? Pocket, Inside waist band, shoulder, small of back, etc. Once you have figured that out you needed evaluate how small/large you are. You need to consider carrying in winter vs. summer and how your clothing choices might affect your ability to carry concealed. Then you need to consider caliber and magazine capacity.

I shoot very often and in 3 gun matches and am very comfortable shooting under duress. To me I feel confident that I could accurately place rounds on target and thus caliber and large magazine capacity doesn't play a huge role into my personal carry choice. Since that is the case I carry a .380acp Sig P238. This is carried in my pocket and since switching to this type of carry mode from an IWB .45 I find myself carrying much more often and any gun is better than no gun. As when I carried a large .45 or even a smallerish 9mm I found myself without a gun as I got uncomfortable and left it in my truck. I literally forget I am carrying a gun very often throughout the day.

I know I didn't answer your question as there isn't really a perfect gun. There is a perfect gun for the particular individual. The only caution I give you is don't get caught up in the whole macho biggest caliber BS some guys try to lay on you. No one enjoys being shot I am sure and won't discriminate based on what caliber they were shot with. A .22 is a perfectly lethal round in capable hands.

Good luck!

^^^THIS - I agree wholeheartedly. (y)

@Sirspanksalot - some ranges/dealers will let you shoot a variety of pieces from their inventory, as long as you purchase the ammo from them. If you have a place like this near you, it would be a great opportunity to narrow down the options and possibly find the one that suits you best.
