I have never had espresso from a pressurized portafilter so I cant really speak from personal experience. But they are more forgiving as far as grind size/consistancy and tamp pressure go so the are easier to use.
Gotcha. I ask because I was gifted a cheap one and until I know of a solid reason to drop off a ton of money I can't imagine why did trade up. I mean this one works..

Agreed, I didn't spend that much.

Here's what I know:
1. This one grinds the beans
2. Packs the coffee
3. Has enough pressure to make decent espresso (the nicer machines have better pressure thingies -that's a technical term)
4. and most importantly, any of my kids can put a cup under it and press the button to make it work. :)
Well now that's something there. Had no idea it was grinding and packing it for you. Shit that's nice

Having had coffee from all over the world. . I keep coming back to the Don Pablo Sig. coffee that is sold at Costco. 2 lbs for $11 is stealing. ..once I tried it from the guy selling it at a store I was sold....for life.

Oh so you get the occasional macchiato or pumpkin spice drink?
No pumpkin....but make my own macchiato and people swear by it when I make it for them. I go through periods where I drink it by the boatload and then go back to just froth and coffee with a packet of sugar. Will be off to Grenada and will get some of their Spice Aisle Coffees...amazing stuff they have along with picking up various spices on that beautiful island. ( hopefully I won't run into the Zika Virus )
