Why don't you try the Heartfelt humidity sheets? I bought some to see how well they really work and they surprisingly did as advertised. Pretty amazing considering it feels like a semi-rigid sheet of paper foamboard. Would be perfect for the 1" space and you can cut to size and use multiple sheets.

Interesting. I mean I have all the humidity I need, just gotta fit it in there. Lots of guys use John's drawers so I'm hoping more respond.

The sheet thing is a good idea, but I'm already like $600 into this thing..... If I can work with what I have I think I'll do that for now

Yea my BM will give me boxes, but holy hell do they reek like smoke. I grabbed a couple a few months ago, aired them out for like 3 weeks and it still wasn't enough. Didn't want that in my humi.

All good, I'll figure something out
I have a couple CH BBB 10 count boxes if you want them.

Beautiful drawers and craftsmanship wow!!!! Nice simple set of drawers. I like it.

They really are beautiful man. Simple, exactly what I wanted. And they smell so good!

Jake you're too much, thank you brother! We have the same set up so if you know they fit, I may take you up on that. I've modified my ziploc containers so we'll see how that goes once I open the door in a few days....

When do you guys consider seasoning done? My hygros are reading 72 but that's the RH in the air, i have no idea how to actually gauge the humidity level of the wood.... A week? or longer? shorter?

If the humidity level on the hygro stays constant, that's the humidity of the wood. If it keeps dropping then the wood is still catching up but when it reads steady a few days it's ready to go

How would it ever drop though if it's a closed environment with like 6 bowls of distilled water in it?

In this scenario I can only see the hygro's rising, never falling. And that's what they've been doing all day.

I have the 18 bottle cooler so I'm not sure if the space in the bottom is the same height or not. The BBB boxes are 1.1" tall (6.25" deep and 7.75" wide). I'd think one would also be able to find a shallow rectangular Rubbermaid or Tupperware that would fill most the space in the bottom. Depth doesn't really matter to much, your just after the max exposed surface area you can get of kitty litter.

As for how long, mine stabilized after a day and has been steady ever since.

Mine rose and then as the wood started to soak it in it started dropping because the kitty litter isn't at 65% out of the bag. You have to train it up so as the wood and kitty litter soaked it in it would drop between 62-65 and I had to just keep spritzing with distilled water until it rose and stayed steady at 65

Ohhhhh, I don't have any KL in there. Just bowls of DW...

You're saying to put KL in there now? I'm afraid to open the door now to test my makeshift KL holder as it's really seasoning up now. 77% on top and 75 on the bottom.

It will recover in a matter of minutes when you close it back up.
Good point. Just tested it with my homemade cut tupperware. it stands about 1.75" tall right now and it's still too tall. Going to try and cut it down to 1 1/4" that should suffice, though it will be rather flimsy so I'll just have to be careful.

I just used a small metal cookie sheet that I got at Target. It has shallow sides and fits right in the bottom under the drawer. Hold at least alb maybe two, can't remember.

Yea and spritz some dw on them as well. You want them to season with the drawers before you put the sticks in

Sweet man, I'll have to pull out the ziploc containers with the DW as I need them for my KL :) I'm sure I can snag a few bowls or something from the kitchen to put the water in.

I'd like your opinion, or others, of whether you think this setup would work with just the one shelf? Would it be too much weight you thing to just stack boxes on the one shelf with the same amount of drawers? Sorry to thread jack but that's what I am planning on doing unless clearer heads tell me otherwise

Nah one shelf is fine. I doubt you can put too much weight on them from just cigars and cigar boxes...
