    Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This thread is here to give the new guys to the forum a chance to establish credibility and earn a trader rating. The trade can either be a cigar trade or a cigar purchase.

We hope that you new guys enjoy the brotherhood here, stick around, read, learn, participate, and then reciprocate when you qualify to be a sponsor yourself.

Please do not post that you want to participate until you have introduced yourself here... Introductions

Rules

The newbie sends his package first to establish their status as a good faith participant on this board. This is to ensure that someone doesn't register for the simple purpose of "mooching" cigars from the established members.

For trading, a newbie may send between 5 and 10 cigars, but no more than 10. It's always a good idea to have some dialogue with your sponsor about your trade. Your sponsor, however, may retaliate in any way they deem appropriate. If it's a cash deal you will work out the details with your sponsor via PM. However, remember this is a NEWBIE trade. Please do not ask your sponsor to send specific sticks (htf, cc, etc).

If you are busy, or foresee being busy, please wait to sign up until you are able to commit to completing your trade. The last thing we want to do here is tie up a sponsor's time when they could be trading with another newbie.

This is a ONE TIME only trade.

The Process

If you are a newbie that wants to trade or purchase, just post your interest here in the thread whether you want to do a trade or a cash deal and I will assign you a veteran sponsor when one is available. The current queue can be found in the next post in the thread.

When you are assigned a sponsor, make contact with them within 3 days or you will be removed and placed at the end of the list. If it happens a second time, you will not be allowed to participate in the NST.

*Newbies - a good idea is to make it so that when you get a PM it sends you an e-mail. Go to...
1. Settings (top right)
2. Under 'My Settings' on the left of your screen click "General Settings"
3. Scroll down a bit until you find "Receive Email Notification of new Private Messages"
Now you are set even if you forget to check in for a few days as long as you're checking your e-mail.

Post a Delivery Confirmation Number in the thread when you send your end (both newbs and sponsors please)

When your trade is complete, please post so in the thread. Pictures of the damage are always fun to see.

I try to update the thread at least every few days, but sometimes life gets in the way, so don't panic if it's been a little longer. If I've missed your post or a couple days have passed, please send me a message.

Do I Qualify to be a Sponsor?

Sponsorship for a trade in the Newbie Sampler Trade (NST) is open for any BOTL member in good standing (meaning a 100% Trader Rating) with at least 6 months on the board and a minimum of 25 unique Trader Ratings OR any BOTL in good standing with at least 12 months on the board and a minimum or 15 unique Trader Ratings.

Sponsorship for a cash deal is open for any BOTL member in good standing (meaning a 100% Trader Rating) with at least 12 months on the board and a minimum of 25 unique Trader Ratings.
Cash deals are worked out via PM with your assigned sponsor. Sponsors will usually ask you what your flavor profile is/likes/dislikes and how much you are looking to spend.


If you would like to be a sponsor please post in the thread along with whether you'd like to do a trade, cash deal, or either.

I thought I completed a trade process for this newbie thread but I don't show me as a pending trading in process...how do I get that to show or do this the right way?

Either @bostoneo or @Daven haven't done a cash deal in awhile. They can fight over you

Kyle, I'm going to be your sponsor for this thread. Let's do a trade since I don't formally meet the 25 unique TR requirement for a cash deal. Little update to the newbie sticks... I haven't been able to smoke a single one yet!!! Driving me batty.. unfortunately I ended up in the hospital and now they gave me the boot with a diagnosis of Pneumonia! So no smoking for now, and for a little while. I suppose I will look at the bright side, the sticks will have some time to breathe in my humidor and get even more tasty...
