Another trophy and MVP for Crosby! #bestever #hatersgonnahate

#bestever? Clearly you jest. He's great, but:

Wayne Gretzky
Mario Lemeiux
Bobby Orr

I'm not even sure he's the best on the game right now. There is this guy in Chicago, John Toes are something like that. ;)

I know pre-season means nothing, but I like where Bednar has the boys. Playing with purpose. Solid win tonight. (Just reading/updates)

Hawks have yet to score a goal in 2 games.

Of course, it didn't help that only 1 forward of their regular 12 played tonight (Andrew Dejardins) and Keith, Seabrook, Hjallmarsson sat, as well as Crawford and Darling.

Still, 2 or 3 of these kids are going to need to step up if the Hawks are to truly be in the mix this year.

Was able to watch quite a bit of the World Cup over here in Germany. Pretty cool tournament as a whole. Really could've used the US to do ANYTHING in order to generate a little more interest. Also would have been nice to see the young guys make the playoffs. I think hockey fans are going to have to become WC fans because I really don't think you are going to see NHL'ers in the Olympics for awhile.

It's a pretty cool time in hockey with some many high quality players in the game right now. Toews, Crobsy, Ovechkin, Kane, Tavares, Benn etc.. It's hard to pick between 19 and 87 but if I was starting a team, I would likely go with 87. If you look at production over careers or even in the last 3 or so years, I would be willing to bet that 87 is well above and beyond 19. Both are great leaders, sure Crosby whines a lot, but he has a lot of respect from people based on his work ethic. You just can't put a price on a guy that you know will put up points for you game in and game out. Just my 2 cents.

*** Went and looked it up. Crosby has 273 pts over 237 games in the last 3 years. Toews has 192 pts over the exact same amount of games. Thats an insanely big difference!!***

If points were the only factor, then I would have no argument. I am sure there are lots of other players with more points than Toews over the last 3 years.

Ok, I looked. 18 of them. Ryan Johansen. Jacob Voracek. Blake Wheeler. Tyler Seguin. Joe Thornton. Phil Kessel, Corey Perry. Claude Giroux.

All solid players. Not a chance I would pick any of them over Toews if starting a team from scratch.

Much better argument can be made for Crosby, understood. You'd pick Sid, I'd pick Johnny, and we'd both be happy. Doesn't get much better than that.

We had our first skate last Sunday. I can already feel the hockey bug start to creep in. Too bad my teams (Rangers, Wild) will be absolute shit this year.
Wild might not be terrible. Interested to see how the coaching is different. Scott stevens running the d is interesting.

If your the best player in the league (like some are arguing Toews is), you should be playing with the best players on your team. You can't say he is because he played the majority of the season away from Panarin and Kane last year. Very good all around player yes!! Best in the league, thats a stretch in my eyes.

To me the argument of "points" is like comparing Wayne Gretzky to Mark Messier/Steve Yzerman. The latter are considered 2 of the best Captains/all around players ever to play the game. However, I am not sure there is a single sane person that wouldn't take Gretzky.

All good though, not every GM (as we both are) have the same opinion hahaha
