So.....I won a box of El Gueguenese natural en Corona Gorda off an auction. They sent me a box of the Maduro instead. The box is also missing a cigar, which I am sure they’d make good on somehow. My question is, I haven’t smoked a Maduro and I won the box for $139. Should I keep them? I doubt they’ll come up again and will only get a refund. I have a toro Maduro I am going to try this afternoon.

We as hobbyists are people who choose what we like. I love Maduros because they offer a sweeter balance and the wrappers are a bit stronger....Naturals tend to be a bit more brittle and not as sweet so as with so many things it comes down to individual tastes. Try one Maduro...or 2 and judge it for yourself as you may convert to Maduros like I did 15 years ago. Having choices and experiences is a good thing as I do like some Naturals but being able to try new things....slices of life.

Well I would call the seller, and see what their options to your their customer are. I bought like five, five packs samplers off Cigar Bid, they were all horrible in the first sampler. I contacted Cigar Bid, was told to return remained for credit. I did so, Cigar Bid refunded all (5) Sampler & postage back.(y) More then I expected, a good experience. :)

I contacted them and they said to return them. They have already sent the return label. If I like the toro I will probably keep them. If I like the toro in most I’ve tried I usually like the CG size more. I am going to try the toro Maduro I have today. I do lean more towards Maduros.

Maduro is a general term, I think of it only as a dark outer wrapper that partially influences the blead, and flavor experience. IMHO the only way each of use can build what I like to call a repurchase list, is to keep notes on likes, dislikes, and buy more of what is to your personals liking.(y)

Each of our plates is like our finger pints, or DNA. Unique to us, it is like going to NYC and asking 10 perfect strangers for a recommendation of the best pizza joint in Queens. Everyone has their favorite, if you try all 10, one should stand out as your personal favorite of the 10 recommendations.(y)

Life is simple try, experience, and keep a likes list.:)

While the Maduro is good the Natural is great imho. Saying that, if they won't exchange the box and only offer a refund, at that price I'd keep them.

Go dark or go home is my motto. I always prefer a Maduro wrapper over Natural if it is available. The flavor is typically more bold, rich and pronounced, and that combined with the subtle sweetness of Maduro leaves really suits my taste.

Everytime I smoke something new I rate it Zero to 10. Ten being best, still in search of my 10's, fun continues.

I started smoking only Natural style cigars. I've since gravitated more towards Maduros (although give me a Warped La Colmena any day!) it's all personal preference!

You bought samplers you never had before... and because they didn’t please your palate you called customer service for a return?

Damn that’s the first time I’ve heard of anybody doing that.

Yikes

I like both quite a bit. I think I am going to keep them. Anyone that has any CGs Naturals they want to trade for some Maduro CGs? I’d like to have some of both to compare over time.

Have you seen some of the shit they send in those samplers?! ;)

Samplers are like Resturants, some good, some crap. But I will give the wordsmiths who write the Cigar profile discription credit, for tricking me it to buying five. Thought I would be spend the night with some dream girl Cigar, it was like walking up next to Rosy O'Donald. :grumpy:

But this company has a good 'satisfaction warranty", that is why they get a good percentage of my Cigar biz.
