I used to love this bourbon. The more I have of it I realize that to my taste it's just OK/solid. Definitely not bad whiskey. Just nothing special. Hmm...

I’ve said similar things about Woodford Reserve DS (1st Bourbon) and regular Blanton’s (5th Bourbon). They are still both solid choices but nowhere near as memorable as the memory I hold still way back when

My earliest collection back in 2015:

It's funny, just like you and @BourbonBinder , my tastes have changed dramatically in a couple years. I have come to gravitate to higher proofs and to ryes. I may replace my almost empty ER bottle if I see a price less than $35, but it will be more for guests who prefer more smooth and less spice.

Congratulations! That’s my favorite Rye of all time, just wish it was released more often by me. It does best in a Rocks Glass, with that you get a spiced orange peel note. Enjoy!!
I'm all the more confident with your high endorsement. I'm not sure if can supplant EHT Rye, but I am going to be fair and have several more pours of each in the coming weeks to be sure.:LOL:

When the bourbon guy at liquor store tells you to put down a more expensive bottle, and buy this.... You listen!

I really enjoyed my first glass. There’s the quintessential OF cherry note but it’s so far in the background it might as well not even be there. I was surprised with this one, and I don’t get surprised much anymore with Bourbon. I envy my adolescent days just getting into the hobby, where everything was new and for the taking.
