It seems like that’s the case with most of what has a huge secondary markup. The Weller FP is nice, but not significantly better than 107, and certainly nowhere near worth 10+ X retail. People are out of their minds.
Spot on here.

There's so much good bourbon on the market. You can't convince me that many bourbons are worth more than $100-$150 bucks. Too many others out there that are fantastic

And that's what's crazy. I was able to get 3 FP's (2 store picks) at MSRP, but can't find the others for my life. I hate the secondary.

It's insane to me, the people that pay 3-400 for the Wellers. and I'm a Weller 12 FAN BOIIII for sure, but the thought of paying the same as what I paid for my bottle of GTS, or something similar. Stupid

My upper limit used to be 50.. then I stretched it to 65.. now I’ve paid 100 for a MWND and 90 for a magnus...

Almost bought a cigar blend for 170 but stopped myself. Still conflicted on that one. Just really hard to justify over 100/ 150...

I've only found OWA 107 at retail in Ohio, never in Illinois where I live. FP, CYOB, SiB etc . I've never seen those here, when it arrives the Binny's folks squirrel it away for their friends and it never hits the shelves. Traded for a Full Proof SP from Cali but still haven't opened it. Tempting to sell when the secondary for it around here is around 300.

Last night's pour... a much more reasonably priced Single Barrel bottle on 4 year old MGP.

I've heard great things about that Cigar Blend, but have yet to see or try it.

Yea, I bailed from that "fan boy" gig. Got tired of the "look at me" and $500 price tags. Ugh.

Oh absolutely.

I've not paid more than MSRP for a bottle for about a year. Last year I paid $80 for Blanton's.

I've come a long way in a year though in appreciation of the incredible value bourbon that's on the market. VERY few bottles out there that I'd go more than MSRP for (dusties not included).

If you start out as a cheap bastard like me you never have to break the habit of buying overpriced bourbon. The hunt for enjoyable, reasonably priced liquor is a noble pursuit.

Still alive on this side of the ground, just focusing on other priorities. Been awhile since I got caught up with the group and even longer since I last posted. Gonna take me sometime to catch up but I figured why not contribute something first. I’ve been barely enjoying bourbon (once or twice a week) but that hasn’t stopped me from adding to my collection, which is finally growing once more.

We had a special private tasting at my cigar lounge. 4 members (including me) brought in one of our big players and shared amongst each other. Not pictured is a Thomas H. Handy. Since basically zero of these are readily available to me, nor do I have the bank roll for any at the moment, I enjoyed each one in at least one way.

Weller Single Barrel

EHT BiB Rye

2019 William Larue Weller (yours truly)

A very undisappointing George T Stagg
