Couple of pours CasAgave Anejo with a Headley Grange

Tell you what, the longer this tequila sits in the bottle the more pronounced the artificial vanilla and caramel flavors. Not bad as a sipper if you not looking for what I consider a tradional "Tequila". May be better suited for a Tequila Sunrise or a Long Island Iced Tea where the sweetness and vanilla has a home.

Need to research if flavors can be added to tequilas and it still be called 100% Agave. Surprising that one year in white oak could produce this much vanilla.

@Boudie , you called this one perfectly. :ROFLMAO: I have purchased the chocolate cream one after trying a sample at Total Wine. It was, as you'd expect, basically just a sugary liqueur. Like a thinner Baileys kinda. My wife enjoyed it in her coffee, and I put some on ice cream a few times. I will say we struggled to finish the bottle though. One of those things like vermouth where it just kinda sits there for a while.

Yea I was thiking the coconut but I have a bottle of Mi Familia Flores Anejo Cristalino that is sweet enough to be a dessert Tequila. I'm going to Santa Fe and Taos next week so I'm hopeing to do some tastings there. Maybe I'll ask some of the barkeeps to make something with the coconut tequila and give it a try.

Tamales, tequila and Fredricksburg wine, should be a hazy 10 days!

I haven't been drinking tequila lately. I have been using it in marinades and meat dishes. Mostly I use Cuervo Tradicional Reposado. It isn't too expensive and imparts a nice flavor.

@MikeNice Now I'm interested in what types of dishes you're making? I'm thinking it might work really well with Fahitas?
Same! Did some tequila/lime wings a loooong time ago that I remember being pretty good...but don't think I've ever used it in cooking beyond that one time.

It works well with fajitas.

One of my favorites is simple. Country style boneless ribs trimmed and chopped in 1" squares cooked in a combination of chicken broth, tequila, and water. You add in fresh garlic and jalapenos as it cooks down. Then toss in some pintos and a little garlic powder. Once the beans soften, mix in a little Maseca and cook to thicken up the broth to thin gravy consistency.

You're adding raw beans?

Going to need a report

First impressions: A little bit more sweetness than I expected but just a touch. The most complex tequila I've ever had by a longshot. Dried fruit, smoke, citrus, other flavors I identified last night. I wish I had written them down while I was tasting them.

I would still choose Abandonado first as a sipping tequila, but this is a close second and a great change of pace with its incredible complexity.

I wish I could taste all them there flavors in tequila, Tom. I am truly envious. But...if I could, I may drink nothing else, which could possibly be counterproductive:giggle:

I was turned on to this at a Herf in mid August, I bought a bottle just to confirm it was good and not just a matter of environment. A super solid pour at just over $50 a bottle.
