In the same vein, back when I first took up the hobby, I thought the darker the cigar wrapper the stronger the smoke.

To produce a stout/porter the barley is roasted. That's it.
This process has nothing to do with fermentation.
Primary fermentation is yeast & sugar. Other cereal ingredients also add a small kick to the overall ABV.
If the barley is roasted that makes less food for the fungus to digest and convert into alcohol.
All things being equal, to make a stronger stout/porter you have to add more yeast and sugar to the recipe.
Guinness Draught is just barely over 4 ABV.

I saw Founders Breakfast Stout yesterday at like 8.6%, so I guess its all in how it's made.

One and done. Noticed the 'barrel aged' after cracking the tab.
The high ABV wasnt' felt on the tongue, but on the mind and body.
Very deceiving taste.

Never had the Angelo, and their Bodhizafa is a little too light in color.
Might surprise you, It's Guinness!

Never seen that one but Sweetwater makes some great brews. Try the 420 Pale Ale if you find some.

I forgot to get pictures of my modelo and Coronas last night but went to a Mexican wedding that was basically the coolest party I’ve been to since I “grew up”. Taco truck with all you can eat and all you can drink. I got into the patron and beers pretty good. Hella party really

A lightish IPA. Not even remotely pilsneresque.
I'm gonna get a hold of the owner first thing in the morning and tell him he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. jk
