I have had no problems getting my boxes. Although the vendor I have been going through, shipped the cigars in a bag via FEDEX, and shipped the box via normal mail. I emailed the vendor to find out why no box and they said that FEDEX has been checking a lot more "box" packages. So I thought that was nice of them to do. Guys also too, check with the vendor about their guarentee info, they might reship another box to you.

Donk I don't think he is worried about the cigars as much as he is about the big OFAC crackdown. But at the same time I heard of a lot of these letters and only about 10 big fine (at least the ones published by the OFAC).

The answer to that letter is simple. If you get a letter other than a warning letter. That would be the letter you have to respond to, All that needs to be done is to answer the letter in the alotted time with a simple explenation of your 5th. ammendment right under the constitution of the United states. I have talked to people who had experience with the dreaded letter. Nothing has ever come out of it from that explination. You don't have to self incrimidate yourself.

True, I've heard that taking the 5th is the recommended approach. I personally don't know of anyone who has received the RFI letter, but I bet it is nerve racking if you were to get it none the less...Anyways I hope everthing turns out alright.

The whole thing is just crazy. If you ask me, the government should have a hell of a lot better/more important things to be doing than fining and harassing people over cigars. No matter what agency it is.

Hope it all turns out ok for ya bud.

I will recommend a book to all of you that will put this in perspective - Unintended Consequences by John Ross Read that and you will have a good handle on this issue - it isn't just cigars that demonstrate our loss of freedom. :argh: :argh:

loans that if you work it right you never have to pay back. All that money they make,at leats half of that is going to end up in the hands of people that want to hurt this country and they are worried about cigars.

Bro...I really regret to hear about your unfortunate situation. I hope and pray that all works out in the end.

Like someone else mentioned earlier...Why are we (the man) spending so much money, time and resources trying to track down people that make purchases from the "ISOM"? I can think of 10 other things that should be drawing more attention than this situation. The last time I checked the "ISOM" was NO immediate threat to "US" or anyone else for that matter. On a side not..."What happens to the items that are being confiscated?" "Where does the money (fines) go when they are paid?"

With all of these confiscations and letters becoming more and more frequent it really makes me wonder if sites like this one are being infiltrated by "you know who"

Once again bro...."Good Luck"

Here is a question for the group. I keep hearing about shipments being snagged, and letters being sent. Might I ask bro's how much activity might flag closer observation? Or better yet, have you guys ever thought of the vendor you are using too? Not as far as the boxes making it through customs, but the OFAC letters. Ever wonder how this agency gets the info?

Customs catches the boxes by randomly inspecting. They find one box and then on down the line there are other indentical boxes and they get those too and so on. It's unfortunate that this happened. Talk to your vendor and see if you can get a refund. I don't want to go along with mass hysterica, but couple people on different boards have been having boxes seized.

Your a brave man Kelly, I would never cop to anything on a public forum.
you should remove your address from your profile.
it may save you someday. all it would take is one agent or one a hole to make a phone call and you would be screwed.

:wtf:
Good call. I may just be paranoid, but I'm taking your advice about the address in the public profile. If anyone ever needs it, they can just PM me or ask around ;)

Did any of you guys watch Dateline tonight? The topic of discussion was "I D Theft. Apparently someones ID is stolen every 4 seconds. And only 1% of those involved are ever caught and prosecuted. I don't know about you guys but this problem is something worth spending taxpayers hard earned tax dollars on rather than the topic at hand. I can assure you that more money is lost as a result of ID theft than purchases made abroad.

On a side note...Might not be a bad idea to delete my addy from my profile. Thanks for the heads up.

Here's a link to the story that i'm referring to.....http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17805134/

That is one of the most ignorant statement I have ever heard.

You do something illegal and then bitch about consequences.... if we all look at the root of the issue it is that something against the law is taking place.. Honestly that is apparently a risk that many are willing to take..

so take the risk and take the punishment..

not trying to be a dick or a downer but...
