  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What a great fraternity we have as brothers of the leaf! I built a cigar lounge out of one of the bays on my three car garage. It is a simple affair, I framed the walls and put up wall board but have yet to tape after three years. I put in a door and an exhaust fan. It is decorated with a nice thow rug, a cou[le of old ice chest end tables and antique humidor table, Stinky & Casa Fuente ash trays, lots of cigar art, two recliners, 42 inch plasma and surround sound, I often just open the old garage door exposing me to the street at night. While sitting here smoking a Mag 46 and on line a guys walks up off the sidewalk. Lo and behold he is smoking a cigar, shakes my had and says, "man this is great....your my hero". We atlk a few minutes about cigars and he has to go but promises to drop by in a few nights for a smoke. This guy lives a few blocks away and we would have probably never have met he he had not smelled the aroma of my cigar. Graet stuff

With all the negative experiences I have had with people and my cigars, this made me think about all the great people I have met thanks to this little hobby. Of course there is all the people on BOTL that I have met on line and in person. The man from Maine on my recent cruise and too many others to count.

Tell us about your most interesting or unlikely meeting of a fellow cigar smoker!

Wow, that cigar lounge sounds amazing! I hope to do that one day when I own a house again. Talk about a "man cave," that's just the best. Even a nice TV. You're my hero and I wish I lived near you :)

Neat, mate! It's always good to meet blokes with which ye identify at least a tad and have stuff to share about; especially such a gorgeus hobby! By the way, the lounge sounds amazing!

I'm jealous, I tend to meet assholes that think I should burned at the stake. Though I occasionally get the innocent bystander that says "I just love the way a cigar smells". That's how I actually hooked someone I worked with. He used to stand where my smoke would go. Then he worked up the courage to smoke one.

Hey, you are Cigar Guy!

I guess for me I was sitting out on the porch when I was at Saratoga Springs resort in Disney World about 2 years ago. I was smoking a really good cigar and this guy comes running around the corner and goes, "So you're the guy smoking the cigar!" I thought I was in for a situation and then the guy goes, "That smells freakin' GREAT!! What are you smoking?" Well, we had a very nice conversation about the virtues of Sir Winstons!

Sounds great Chuck.
I wish I could do a similar setup. I just smoke on the back porch at home. Screened in, good speakers for the tunes, its nice but doesn’t come close to what you have. I get together with a neighbor once or twice a month for a smoke but I wish I had more neighbors and friends that smoked cigars. It would be fun to get a group at the house occasionally (like once a week lol). The best cigars are the ones smoked with friends. I have a long time friend who is actually more like a brother than a friend. When I moved to SC he moved to the Clearwater area of Florida a few years later and now we have a cigar phone-herf about twice a month until we can get together.
I do like going to my local B&M occasionally for a smoke but it’s 20 minutes from the house. Always meet up with great people especially when they have scheduled events which usually results in a decent size crowd and always a good time. It is a brotherhood. Guys and gals that like to get together and mingle while enjoying some good smokes just seem to be an exceptional and friendly bunch. Joining BOTL was one of the best things I’ve done. I’ve met some fine folks here albeit online but hope to be able to do it in person some day.

Cigar Guys and Gals
