  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I happen to think the Fuente OpusX is probably one of the best sticks I've smoked. I don't consider myself a connoisseur but I've smoked my fair share throughout the years & I happen to love the OpusX.
Anyways, I was curious to know what you guys think comes close to matching an OpusX for a lesser price. In terms of it's complexity and great taste, I can't even begin to compare it to anything. It's so packed with flavor yet so smooth and balanced. Does anybody know of something as flavorful for a good price?
I know some are gonna say it can't be compared to anything and I'd agree myself. I haven't found anything to compare it to, but I'm sure some of you must know something it kind of comes close to...

You know, I've found that certain cigars have a somewhat similar style (Cuesta Rey, for example) and some have a similar kick (Ashton VSG) but rarely do you find one that has both. The closest would have to be the ESG, but they're MORE expensive than the Opus.

I've never found a cheap Opus alternative--if I ever do, I'd buy a truckload.

Oliva Serie V. I've been saying it since they came out. Obviously a different smoke in many ways, but it reminds me of Opus the way Beamish reminds you of Guinness.

Ya know what...I might have to begin agreeing with you on that. And the Lancero is Mucho affordable. $150 for 36 smokes. Not quite OPUS strength, but the flavors are pretty good.

Unfortunately, I don't agree about the V. I think its the same as the others- some similar flavors, but not comparable.

I think the primary comparison, and certainly the flavor that's missing, is the rosado wrapper, which is not common. Anyone have an opinion on how similar the Partagas Rosado is to the Opus?

I guess I've never tried to find an Opus alternative, I love Opus, if I want an Opus, I'll smoke an Opus, cause nothing tastes like an Opus. I can't agree at all with the Oliva Serie V comment as that cigar is about as anti Opus as it gets, although a very very nice smoke.

In the end, I agree with caseabb, Only Fuente is Fuente!

Just because another cigar has a Rosado wrapper doesn't mean it will be anything like an Opus. Try the Rocky Patel Rosado and see if you see a comparison to Opus.:hysterica

Never had an Opus. Too darn expensive for government pay. Sounds like I"ll need to pick one up sometime though. Someone came to my local B&M looking for them today while I was there, the guy said they haven't had any in weeks and for some reason they are only able to get small shipments. Must be good stuff :)
