  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What platform are you using?

So in another thread, some of us were talking about developing an iPhone app. I suggested we simply do it as an online application in order to avoid some of the platform-dependent issues that arise. Some folks didn't like that and claimed the appeal of the app would go away if it was not local.

So, if I were to attempt my hand at a local app...out of interest, what platforms are most folks using?

I personally would sooner have OJ Simpson date my sister than allow a PC into my house, but that's just me. I'm an Apple zealot and I don't apologize for it. I presume, however, that I am in the minority.

So, what are you using?

I use a Mac primarily, but I also run WinXP and Linux through VMware. I used Linux exclusively for a long time, but I was supplied with a PowerMac at a programming job a few years ago, and ultimately switched to OS X at home.

I have a PC. Had to tweak the bastage quite a tad for decent performance, though, and would've rather had a Mac; but I wouldn't turn down a present.

I've played around with Cocoa, but I haven't done anything substantial with it. Most of the programming I've done in the last couple of years has been plain C.
I don't think my wife would be too happy if I played around with someone named Cocoa. :)

I have never owned a PC myself....and I've had a computer of my own since the mid 1980s.

I've been using Macs exclusively since 1990.

Pardon my middling web knowledge, but is that data coming from HTTP_USER_AGENT or some other portion of the header?

Just out of interest...
I assume Eric means among the membership. . .?

8.5 % market share in the desktop market, according to Gartner and IDC in July of this year; much less world wide. I quit playing with Mac's in the 80's and never looked back.
