I've been using my palio for about 2 years, solid, with no problems, and no re-sharpening. Best cutter I've ever owned.

I have a Xikar MTX & I love it. I also just purchased a palio & it is definitely also a great cutter.

I'm on this site for just a few days and you guys have me buying stuff I don't need.....With that said....I was set on buying a Xikar, never heard of the Palio until this week, and now you have me convinced to buy one. What sets the two apart?

Which XiKar? The double blade, punch or scissors? Palio is a double blade, so it's different from two of those; but also XiKar's double blade is different from others. They are all good, and it's ye who'll in the end decide which is better.

EDIT - Ye need it, it's more expensive of an investment, but ye need a way to cut cigars (and yer teeth aren't always the option...especially with figurados); and, in a few years ye'll appreciate ye started with a good one and hadn't bought so many dispossable ones.

I recommend the Xikar MTX for your first cutter. You have 100% total control with the cutters. I prefer just to take of the end cap & no tobacco.

Hardcore...I have a pair of cigar scissors given to my by my grandfather. I tried them once and ruined the tip..Is this one different? Tx
The MTX scissors are a good tool, no question. I find that you'll really need to do a but of practice with scissors before you are getting a really good cut. You might try getting you granddad's pair sharpened at a cuttlery store.

The Xikar double blade cutter, is also a good cutter, and I've owned a couple. If they break or get dull, you can always send em back.

The palio IMO has a more comfortable feel, also has a lifetime warantee. And I think provides a cleaner cut.

I think you should get the Palio now, and the Xikar at cigar fest when you go.

See I'm not sure. I never used any other scissors myself so I really can't say. I can tell you that they took me quite awhile to get used to & now I love it. I like the control that I have over the cut. The MTX is a little bit lower priced which is nice on your wallet & of course it has Xikar's warranty. It has a key ring on it so it's allways handy in a pinch. I myself use the leather sheath they sent me. I feel that you can't go wrong with this cutter, imho. I recommend it to everyone.

I heard from another dealer who carried the Palio that customers break them. Seems they tend to pull them apart too hard and mess them up putting the two parts back together again. I dont have one, I've got the Xikar and love mine. But otherwise, I've only heard good things about the Palio.

I have pulled apart my "carbon fiber" one and it went back together fine. I can see how someone could mess it up though. There was something sticky on the tracks, and when I opened the cutter apart into two pieces. I carry my SAK a lot though but always have my palio in my back pocket.

Thanks guys for the advice...I tried the scissors again last night..no luck..I'll be making my decision soon:yes:
Just try to shave off the very end of the cap with them. Nice, slow, & easy. Once you get the hang of them you'll love them!
