If it passes they'll be plenty of pissed off people in the military...
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
See, they can save money that way and wouldn't have to buy "night vision" goggles! Not only that but I've also read smoking marijuana or at least a mix of marijuana and tobacco increases one's ability to see in the dark. It was a unofficial observance of some indigenous fishermen somewhere in the world. They would smoke up before they went out for the night in pitch black but could find their way around. When they didn't smoke they couldn't see.
What's up Don.First off, you guys keep saying this will or will not ever get passed. It will never even have to be voted on, Defense Secretary Robert Gates or President Obama could put this in place if he wishes, and if he does it would take an act if Congress to change it.
Second, I have spent more than my share of time on military bases, and I would say that atleast 75% of Marines smoke. I did not, but I did drink more then than I ever have. I have no problem if they decide to make all bases and military transportation smoke free. You all are looking at this from a cigar stand point, they are not as harmful as those cancer sticks they are smoking. I'd this is put in place, look for liquor to be next.
For those of you that say we live in a free country, we don't. We live in a Democratict country.
Most of these young guys and gals in the Military enter between 18 and 20, and are very easily influenced.
Ok, that is what I thought. I must have misread the Congress part in your first post.It will never even have to be voted on, Defense Secretary Robert Gates or President Obama could put this in place if he wishes, and if he does it would take an act if Congress to change it.
Like I said in my first post, this doesn't have to go through Congress, President Obama could do this bt exuctive order, and if he does it would take an act of congress to change that order. Not only that Bags is correct Military personal are governed under a different set of rules and laws, the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice).
So in theory Secretary of Defense Robert Gates or the Secretary of the Navy (people don't realize he is the third most powerful man in the Military chain of command, right under Gates) could insitute this without approval from anyone else, the only difference being they can be over ruled by Congress or the President.
So does chocolate. They know smoking increases the production of dopamine and seratonin which calm and cause a pleasurable feeling respectively.
