Not the mad fladder!
First off I need to thank Jerome (Darkman) for gifting me this cigar!
Today I picked out a special smoke to honor the memory of some dear
friends that were killed in action Feb 2 2007 outside of Baghdad. I
don't think that I could have picked a better smoke for the occasion.
This is one of the most complex smokes that I have ever had the privilege to smoke. The box pressed torp was firm and evenly packed with no visible flaws.
Once lit this cigar reveals a sweet tobacco core with cedar and a
wonderful spice of pepper mixed with nutmeg through the nose. The finish
is an extremely smooth creamy caramel taste with toasted cashews. I had
to force myself to set this down to let it rest between puffs.
The spice fades out in the second third of this smoke and the cedar
flavor moves to the front mixed with cashews and coffee. The burn was
uneven and required a few touch ups. Ash was slightly flaky but held for
an inch before I knocked it off.
The final stretch the flavors started to move into the full range. A
nice barnyard profile with liquorice and expresso beans that continued
to gain strength all the way down to the nub.
This cigar was a true treat. Every few puffs revealed a slightly
different array of flavors. The burn was off and did slightly distract
from the otherwise perfect smoking experience. I will be trying to hunt
down a few of these to tuck away for special occasions!
RIP CW4 Keith Yoakum and CW2 Jason Defrenn. You are gone but not
forgotten.
