  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

First off I need to thank Jerome (Darkman) for gifting me this cigar!

Today I picked out a special smoke to honor the memory of some dear
friends that were killed in action Feb 2 2007 outside of Baghdad. I
don't think that I could have picked a better smoke for the occasion.
This is one of the most complex smokes that I have ever had the privilege to smoke. The box pressed torp was firm and evenly packed with no visible flaws.

Once lit this cigar reveals a sweet tobacco core with cedar and a
wonderful spice of pepper mixed with nutmeg through the nose. The finish
is an extremely smooth creamy caramel taste with toasted cashews. I had
to force myself to set this down to let it rest between puffs.

The spice fades out in the second third of this smoke and the cedar
flavor moves to the front mixed with cashews and coffee. The burn was
uneven and required a few touch ups. Ash was slightly flaky but held for
an inch before I knocked it off.

The final stretch the flavors started to move into the full range. A
nice barnyard profile with liquorice and expresso beans that continued
to gain strength all the way down to the nub.

This cigar was a true treat. Every few puffs revealed a slightly
different array of flavors. The burn was off and did slightly distract
from the otherwise perfect smoking experience. I will be trying to hunt
down a few of these to tuck away for special occasions!

RIP CW4 Keith Yoakum and CW2 Jason Defrenn. You are gone but not
forgotten.

Thanks for the review. Great cigar and a great way to remember your friends.
How would you compare the 44 v 45? Would you say this is the best Padron out IYO?

I have not smoked the 45 yet. I do have a 45th maddy though that I am itching to try. Will be interesting to compare. I do know that Jerome has had both so maybe he could chime in. Think he preferred the 44

Smoke it man, and buy more because you'll be aching to after the experience! I look at it as a flawlessly constructed 1926 that is smoother, more complex, and more refined. It's almost TOO balanced, if that makes sense? In a very GOOD way, lol!

Great review. Padron is my favorite brand by far, but I was dissapointed in the 45th. The 40th is 10 times better imo. Probably never get a chance to smoke a 44 Family Reserve.
