  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This was my first time smoking anything from the Liga Privada line so I was hoping it would be a winner...

Well this cigar was good but nothing special.

PreLight: The draw started out loose, but ended up not being a super wind tunnel. The wrapper on this thing was super oily and toothy, which got my expectations up. It really is a beautiful cigar. Scent on the foot was rasiny and the cold draw had some slight pepper with a musty, sweet tobacco flavor.

Burn:
1st third - lots of black pepper that lingers with a fleeting bitter cocoa. Very flavorful but unrefined. I'm getting a kind of dark sweet fruit flavor but I can't really pinpoint it. Might be a plum like flavor. About an inch in the cocoa flavor is the predominant after taste.

As the 2nd third began I got a blast a plain popcorn. Nice toasty flavor but still muddy overall. The body has calmed down to something more medium. The aroma switched to more of a clove-like scent now and the flavor is still muddled and earthy.

The final third was more of the same... flavorful and bold but meh overall. Nothing to distinguish it.

Final thoughts:

Was the cigar good: yes
Was it special: no
Would I buy again: not right now. Gonna see how my other one ages.

I think this cigar has potential for aging. It has a lot going on, but nothing to make it refined.

If you have any aged T52s and would like to change my mind, my addy is in my profile lol.

I know that everybody has different tast profiles but a friend of mine who just started smoking cigars this summer really enjoyed the T52 Toro. I ended up giving him my last couple T52 toro's as it was the first cigar that he had the wow factor on.

Woah....you got flavors of plum and popcorn, yet didn't find anything to distinguish the T-52??....LOL! j/k bro, appreciate the review, on what I think is a consistently great stick.

Could be Liga's just might not be for you...but i'd certainly give a few more 52's, and mix in a handful of 9's before you go waiving the white flag ;).

Don't get me wrong.. while it did have a lot a flavor and some flavors that stood out for a puff or two, overall the smoke just tasted like a standard full bodied nicaraguan smoke...

like I said, age should help these a lot.

They're horrible. Stay away. :innocent:

Shouldn't you be reading Grudem or something like that anyway?

I've NEVER had a LP9 or T52 with a loose draw. Honestly, it sounds like the cigar might have been dry or something.

The LP9 has become my favorite cigar and I probably smoke 5 of them a week. I agree with you that the wrapper is oily and toothy, butthe cigar to me is always heavy in hand and packed with tobacco. I've never had a loose or tight draw on one. Always been damn near perfect.

I prefer the 9 over the 52, but I have to disagree with it being nothing special. Coupled with the new release of the Dirty Rat and last year's Flying Pig, the LP line-up is one of the best on the market.

I have not had one (toro) since they were released and I thought they were awesome. I wish I had bought a box.

I've had four that were underfilled and that didn't draw well. The all came from the same fiver so it might have been that batch. Every other LP of any kind that I've had has had excellent construction.

I have at least two boxes of each size of the T52's and really love them but only at specific times. I find this is really a cigar that has to be smoked slooooowly. Everytime I rush one I think why do I have these? Then the next time sitting back enjoying the evening and lots of time I remember. Very interesting blend with subtle hints of Drew Estates infused cigars IMHO.

Just opened the Box I got from podman on Tuesday and the Beli's still have the wow factor to me! I agree with Chuck about an hour and 50 mins it took me to finish it. Burn was perfect as well as the draw.
