  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Really?

Do you approve of the humidor/smoking lounge as well?

The shop is a shithole imo but they are nice guys.
Funny you mention that about the lounge IN the humi. I was wondering about that. I don't have many shops in my neck of the woods...I mean I do have a couple of nice ones, but if you have ever been to Jim's on Sunrise in Patchogue, well, that would be my definition of shithole.

Gentlemen,

As most of us saw last year, retailers will do what they want when they want with what they want. This is not Pete's problem nor the way he would "like" things to happen. But, like many other short run products, these things happen.

Most of you know that I had gotten all wound up in last years release only to feel like a douchebag when all was said and done. I learned my lesson the hard way.

Bottom line is, if a retailer pisses you off, don't buy from them. Don't misdirect your issues with retailers towards the manufacturers. They don't control private businesses.

Just my .02.

Well said. I thought Pete did a very nice job of releasing more monsters this year to satisfy more people.
I agree with both of these statements. I just hate dealers that take advantage. My statement was in no way directed at Pete but to maybe slap some dealers hands. Sorry if it sounds directed at Pete, as I was just looking out for our less fotunate brothers.

I haven't been to Jim's but I've also never bought a stick from the shop we are speaking of that wasn't completely ruined from sitting in clouds of smoke.

I no longer frequent that particular shop preferring to spend my time at Matador in Roslyn. Smoke Signals in Port Jeff is real nice as well but unfortunately a bit of a journey for me.

Well, good to know about that. Never considered that smoking in the humi could cause such a problem, but it def makes sense. Thankfully, the faces came in yesterday and I bought 'em yesterday, so they didn't spend much time in the humi.

I live out east, I've been to Matador a few times and it's a great shop with a real good selection, but too far for me. Smoke signals is great and I frequent there the most.

All the shop is doing is trying to move some merchandise that probably wouldn't sell otherwise. Great marketing idea for him.
He didn't have to buy the lighter sets... he's trying to squeeze all the money he can from customers that really want these boxes. Shady.

He's free to do what he wishes, as long as he isn't violating any kind of agreement with tatuaje, but I know that his shop will never get any of my money. If I'm ever in a position to buy from him, I will find another shop or do without.

The regular lines like Cabiguan and La Requizas are where its at. I find it funny that some people are freaking out because they can't get a box. I find it funny that no one talks about Litto Gomez small batches. LG small batch smokes are amazing. LG did the limited realeases way before the monster series.

They get their own love when time comes around. I think that Pete's stuff gets this much press on here...just because it is here. I also think that he gets a lot on the outside because it gives us something to look forward to at Halloween time! Kinda like Fuente for Christmas! Just my .02 though...ps...glad to see ya around:)

For me it's a 2 part thing. First, I really enjoy the tat products (most all of them) and secondly for me, it's the gimmick and I'm not ashamed to admit that.

I love this halloweeny time of year. It's all about horror movies and the like for me. So, for one of my favorite manufacturers to come out with a cigar that is meant to honor some of the horror movie greats, well, count me in! It's fun.

I think its funny that you think this is "people freaking out", haha.

You obviously weren't here this time last year, haha

I've only smoked one LG small batch and fell in love. Unfortunatly I have never been back to have another.

I'm with DK, I like halloween, and all that comes with it. For me the Monster series is less about smoking the smokes than it is the collectibility of the cigars and the boxes. While I think the Frank and the Boris are 2 of the best cigars Pete has made, the Drac was less than imppressive, and I hate the fact that the Face is a 60 RG, but it does make sense for the series. I can not afford a whole box, and don't have the credit card to put it one, so I am at the mercy of the aftermarket. Yeah I want an empty box and a few cigars, but I ain't gonna lose any sleep over it. My brothas here have always made sure I'm taken care of and I don't expect that to change.

The day that the "Unlucky 13" retailers were announced I called Uptown's Smoke Shop, Nashville, TN and had my name added to their waiting list. I hadn't heard anything back from them so I sent them an email last night just to get an update, here is there response to me....

"We are putting The Face on sale tonight for in-store customers who attend our event with Pete. Any boxes that remain will be offered to those on the list tomorrow. We intend to just start at the top and work our way down until they are gone. Can't really tell you how many we will have left after tonight."

So we shall see what we shall see come tomorrow.

Is that all expenses paid? Cuz I could use a vacation! Seriously though, I can't wait to try these, but with funds tight, I've gotta wait at least a month before getting on the waiting list.
That said, I do enjoy reading all the adventures!

I've got to say that Pete does an awesome job with the whole presentation of the monster series.

I was a bit disappointed at first that the Face box didn't have that classic coffin shape, but as you break it down and really think about it. Leatherface would be buried in a beat up, pine box. I also really like the touch of the sticks being wrapped in butcher paper and burlap. The man is thinking out every last detail, that's what I love about this release!

Yup, I have to agree with you. The attention to detail really draws you in, you really can't get better packing for this release, besides maybe, more BLOOD!

I definetly wish I could swing a coffin but Im only a year out of college so im still a poor broke SOB. The presentation is definetly badass but Im going to have to settle for the normal box of 10.
