Wow that is a crazy amount of lather. How long does it take you to create that?

Ill be honest. I had just a tiny bit of that Maggards Leather & Tobacco left and decided to finish it off. Took about 30 seconds to come up with that lather. I forgot how how quickly these soaps lather. I did three passes and had enough left for three more. The scent is freaking awesome. Grab some samples you wont regret it.

AWESOME!! I have 2 samples of theirs as you know; the Lilac and the Limes & Bergamont. The lilac burned my face a little, possible allergy. I'm gonna test out the Lime one to see if they have an ingredient my face doesn't agree with (might be the use of Lye). I re-lathered my Catie's Bubbles with the distilled water and disappointingly had an even worse experience than when I used my hard water :(. I so wasn't expecting that after watching "ShaveBusta" on YouTube shave against the grain with his Catie's Bubbles...oh yeah and he was using ghost lather (in between re-lathering).

Staying on the topic of re-lathering with distilled water, i retried my Soap Commander with it. When I first tried it with my hard water it was dry offering no slickness causing the blade to skip on my face. This time (with distilled water) I got a lather so thick it looked like I was wearing a mask and it was very slick. Very happy with the results too, no irritation. Can't wait to try it with Stirling.

Seems like Soap Commander might be the soap for you.

I hope so, it's nice having a fallback when you're trying out a new soap and it's not going your way, but you still have to get through the shave. I'm getting Stirling Executive Man for Christmas and am excited about actually having a full container of soap to work with. So far Stirling & Soap Commander are setting the standard for me. I think I may even trying Stirling Witch Hazel when my Thayer's runs out. Their aftershave balm looks pretty promising and plenty of variety with both.

I don’t have any Shave of the Day pics however I do have some nice picks of my 2 brushes. Both have been broken in Italian Style. After watching a video of how to break in a boar hair brush I learned that it can be expedited using a method created by an Italian barber and perfected by another.
Method: fill up mug of cold water and insert brush until mostly submerged. Put in fridge for 24 hours. Remove and rub against terry cloth towel for 10 minutes. Put back in mug with cold water and put back in fridge for 24 hours. Remove dry 10 minutes and repeat both steps one more day.
Results: softer hairs that are split. Better lather without the pain of the normal break in period.

The Semogue 620 has a 30 shave break in period, so I wanted to see if there was a way around it. I was so happy with the results I applied it to my Omega 10066.

Notice in first pick that the Omega is superior in Knot and Loft Size. It’s also one year old where the Semogue was brand new. The second pic shows how much bigger the loft is of the smaller Semogue after the Italian Barber Break in method to a new brush. Finally that last pic shows how the Omega has reclaimed the crown and showing new dimensions after 3 days of this method. Mind you I used this brush for 100’s of shaves prior and wasn’t able to achieve this. Very happy with my efforts.

I miss the Old Gillette Razors that we had in the 1960, that were metal, had an adjustable head, and Gillette Blue Blades. Now those go for big bucks on E-bay, they worked so good, and the Blue Blades were so cheap.

Vintage Gillette razors are all over EBay for about $25. Almost every antique store will have a few for very reasonable prices. These cost me between $10 and $25. That 50 year old Fat Boy is my daily driver and are easy to find

It's been awhile since the last post so I figured what better time to post a new progression in my daily shave routine. I have now added the once feared Feather Blade to my daily rotation. I, like most people was psyched out by the reviews of this very very very sharp blade, and also like most I kept my distance from it. I finally took the chance, when my go to blade (personna lab blue) just simply wasn't cutting it anymore...pun intended lol. Let me start off by saying WOW!!! I think I'm in love with this blade. It's more noticeably sharp, but in no way as sharp as I was imagining. I'm even able to shave against the grain on my sensitive skin and the blade just slices through anything in it's path; thick or thin. Just this past shave, as I was running late, I was only able to do 1 1/2 passes and it felt as smooth as a Personna Lab Blue 4 pass shave. They are a tad more spendy but I hear that they last twice as long. Give them a shot if you haven't already, I promise you won't soon regret it. Picture to come soon.

With hopes of reviving this thread. I’m loving my not so new anymore Feather blades. I consistently get 6-7 shaves out of each blade (Personna Lab Blues got 3-4 shaves). Gonna be ordering a 100 pack soon. One of these days I will give straight shaving another go, as the first time I went to one of those shops, and it was literally a bloody painful experience.
