• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    A Failsafe Lighter?

Dupont X-tend. Worth every penny, especially if you buy it on sale (Mike's usually has 1 or 2 colors at close to half price). Lights the first time every time and holds lots of fuel. Follow everyone's instructions, especially about using only good butane (refined 5x if possible, 3x at a minimum).

International Tobacco Cigar Shop - King of Prussia Mall (PICS)

Hmmm, thanks for the heads up. I knew there was a place like that at the Plymouth Meeting Mall, but not at KoP. I'll look for it the next time I am stuck there.

    Vector Thundra Desktop Lighter

I have the Vector Thundra, and it is awesome. I've had it well over a year, it works great, its fuel supply is awesome, and it weighs a ton. Sometimes you can get them free with certain specific box purchases from CI/CBid, JR, etc., if you check around. Otherwise, I'd start with CBid and the...

    First Palio

Before you send it back, have you tried cleaning the cutting edges with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol? If not, try that. The blades are probably just slightly gunked up with oils etc. from cigars, not dull. BTW, Palio is definitely the best cutter out there.

    Pa. Cigar Tax, Again

CRA has links for you to email Rendell and a couple of other key players in the Senate. There is no excuse for anyone on this list, and especially those who have a PA address, not to do it.

According to the article, they already tried it in Texas. And succeeded. Better cancel the march on Austin.

    Prometheus Y Cutter

Stick with Palio or Xikar. I have both and prefer the Palio by a small but definite margin. I was told by a Prometheus dealer that they used to make a good product but that the new stuff sucks, including the cutters. JMO, YMMV.

    My regret about Ron's v-cutter...

Actually, v-cutters work really well on most torps. Sounds (and looks) weird, I know, but try it --- you might like it.

    So what'cha readin'???

A buddy of mine turned me on to the "Rain" series by Barry Eisler. Good, easy reading about a Japanese/American hit man named John Rain. I recommend it highly, if you like the genre, but you MUST read them in order, starting with Rain Fall. I'm on the third one, and I hate putting them down.

    Any Irish Whiskey drinkers?

Bushmill's white is my everyday Irish. The others mentioned, including Black Bush, Bushmill's Single Malt, Redbreast, etc. are pricey enough to fall into the special occasion category for me.

    The New Palios!

Sounds like a warranty issue to me! Seriously, though, email them and tell them what happened. I wouldn't be surprised if they sent you a new one. Their customer service is outstanding.

    Ronson JetLite Torch Lighter Review

I have a bunch of these that I keep stashed in various locations so I will always have one in reach. I don't use them as my primary lighter, except when I am traveling and don't care if I lose it or it gets confiscated. They are excellent, but as pointed out, the trigger can get hot, and the...
