a lot of times it can happen with a big temperature or humidity difference between where your cigar was stored and what it is outside. i usually let my cigar sit and "acclimate" to room temperature / RH before I smoke it. seems to have helped me with the issue you describe.

I had the corona last night, as I saw this deal. I really enjoyed the cigar. Front loaded with pepper like most Pepin's. Mellowed down after the first 3rd but I tasted more coffee then I've ever tasted in another Pepin blend for the remainder of the smoke. If you have the money, I say go for it.

never had mold on my opus's (opii?). anejos are another story. I don't think I've had one yet that hasn't had mold at some point. I just gotta check them monthly.
