• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Set up humidor

I use Boveda seasoning backs (somewhere in the 80s for the RH) and followed the directions and left it in there for 2 weeks. Never failed me yet. Whatever way you use, I believe the consensus from the forum will be to leave it in there for a week or two at the minimum with whatever humidifying...

    NJ Area BOTL

I'm in the area and frequent both JRs and if I'm off (I alternate weekends) I'm down to meet up. Never did a BOTL Herf before.

    Lounge rules

For the small mom-and-pop stores I go to on occassion, I follow whatever rule they have. I feel like they're more protective because their margin is a lot smaller and a bad month can ruin a small business. The really large B&M I go to has signage that states you have to buy a stick to use the...

Do full bodied cigars burn out your palate?

Just did few days in a row smoking multiple cigars a day (for my palate what I consider fuller cigars) and my tongue felt a little different this morning. Almost like I burned it. Anyway, will be traveling so hopefully will recover in time for the weekend.

    NY City Trip

I think at Carnegie Club it was $10 so not overly outrageous if you're there for a bit.

    NY City Trip

Not sure what you're in town for but I enjoyed Carnegie Club's Sinatra Show. If you do go there, their selection is very pricey (an Ashton Symmetry was $25) but if you're there and paid for tickets to the show they waive the cutting fee if you bring your own and I do believe if you buy cigars...

Cigars for your non cigar friends

For the new or non-regular cigar smokers, I've been giving them Montecristo White Series (my B&M gives you a free cigar when you order a sandwich and this is regularly one of them so I have quite a few) which works out well since they're mild and Montecristo is a familiar name.

    Custom Cigar Mold

I don't know anything about rolling or deconstructions so pardon me if I am asking silly questions, but how do you take apart the wrappers? And what makes you choose what to mix? Your work looks awesome and can't wait to see what else you make.

    Hats off to Puro Cigars

If we could arrange pay roll deductions to Puro Cigar, I'd jump aboard. I have great B&Ms near me that I frequent regularly but even then, I still buy from Puro Cigar because even though I live in NJ, communication and service from you makes me feel like I'm at one of my neighborhood B&Ms...

What kind of hygrometer should I get?

Agree with the above, have 3 Caliber IVs for my various set-ups and they were all either spot on or one off the Boveda.

    Fingers Crossed

Poor wording on my part, I meant not passing putting cigars through the FDA approval process. Sorry!

    Fingers Crossed

Thanks for the update. I'm crossing my fingers and banking on that a bunch of those guys on the Hill smoke cigars and won't let it pass.

Usually don't enjoy the 'specials' my B&M pushes on display but I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this.
