• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Newbie Wine Recommendations

Here in California we get a good deal on these wines during the 5-cent wine sales every quarter: basically buy 1 bottle get the other for 5 cents. As it turns out though, these two wines are always on sale at Bevmo: http://www.bevmo.com/ranch-32-pinot-noir--750-ml-.html...

Very good point. More competitors = better quality in the industry.

    Hey Skip, what the ....

Well, time to scour Google for a reliable German retailer! Lol! If I recall correctly, the cigar on Instagram had Dominican or Nicaraguan binder, not Indonesian. But either way this sounds like a very interesting cigar! Keep up the great work, @ChiefHava !

    Hey Skip, what the ....

Over the summer, there was an instagram post from Skip about an experimental blend using Cuban tobacco. Is this cigar the result of that?

Totally agree. Eastern Standard retail at $240 a box, Warped FDVs at $212 and Futuros at $170. No brainer, imho. Although the EST I smoked was good, certainly not that good. And their whole marketing and branding strategy kinda annoys me. Not a real big fan of Steampunk/Hiptster shit to begin...

Aging Habanos vs. Nics and Doms

So essentially, I get a box with DEC 15 stamped on bottom. The cigars I should assume--typically--will be too harsh and young for enjoyment and need rest for at least 18 months before they're ready to smoke. And that's because they were rolled last month with last year's tobacco, and they need...

Aging Habanos vs. Nics and Doms

For example: ABR 14 means cigars were rolled and boxed in April of 2014 with tobacco from the 2014 crop?

Aging Habanos vs. Nics and Doms

That's a good question. I guess there's a big difference between 'aging' and 'resting'? I'm not currently equipped to 'age' any cigar properly. I have one large coolidor where I keep five boxes of Habanos and 5 cedar trays of Nics and Doms. I keep that coolidor at 70% and 62 degrees. But I...

Aging Habanos vs. Nics and Doms

Just asking for some advice by experienced cigar smokers. Why do Habanos age better than Nics and Doms? And is it really worth aging Nics and Doms past 12-18 months. From what I've read here and heard from experienced CC people, most CCs need 12-18 months until maturity. But Nics and Doms don't...

The quality just doesn't justify the price-point for me. Whereas with Foundation, Crowned Heads, Warped(;)), and Sobremesa, the quality, without a doubt, justifies the price-point.

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

Thanks to a little sound advice, opened box of LC50s for the games. Amazing with 6 months. Praises for @JonHuber

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

At the cigar bar Saturday afternoon. After much sound advice, I decided to open a box that's been resting since release.

    Aged Las Calaveras 2015?

LC52 at cigar bar with six months on it! Thanks, fellas for the advice. These are just f-ing great!

Cool! Nice to know. Always down to try new cigars. Keep us updated.

    Aged Las Calaveras 2015?

Very good advice! Thanks, friend. I'm so glad I asked. They would've sat at least another six months before I went near them.

Just got this other humidor and...

Hey, Dan. Nice to meet you. I looked up Baracoa Cigar Company, but the webpage has no links to selection. I also found a Baracoa Tobacconist. Are they related? Is Baracoa a cigar shop or an on-line retailer? Just curious.

    Aged Las Calaveras 2015?

Thanks a ton, guys. I also bought fivers when they first came out, so that I wouldn't be 'tempted'. I did notice some improvement over just a few weeks. But I'm on board with the consensus here. I don't want to be that guy in 2018 with 3 crappy boxes of CH LC 2015s, when I could've enjoyed them...

Hungry for bantor on this snow day WFH

While I do like having the pitcher strikeout 99% of the time, and also like watching managers beat their brains out over how they'll deal with the 'hole' in their lineup, I also understand that the rule goes back to an age when players smoked havanas in the dugout, base runners 'spiked'...

    Aged Las Calaveras 2015?

So when the Las Calaveras 2015 were released, I bought 1 box of each vitola. The boxes have been sitting in a large tupperdor since June at 67% and 64 degrees. I have not touched them since. Tonight I opened the LC 50 box. The aroma was over-powering with deliciousness. Now I don't even want to...

UPDATE - NJ BOTL: Proposed Cigar Tax hike from 30% to 90%!

Instead of taxing cigars at 90%, tax Coca Cola 500% for sugar drinks. The only thing I see kids doing in my hood after school, is going to Korean corner stores and sucking down soda and eating junk food and candy bars. Parents should be more concerned about soda and junk food than cigars.
