• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Church security

Sad times that a Church has to consider becoming a militia...what did Jesus tell Peter in the Garden... pretty sure the written account didn't say "cut off his other ear" ... it grieves me that Society is using the Church as a battleground and political instrument to accomplish an agenda...

    Evolution of Opus X

Nuttin like an Opus bash to get the sphincter tighter...we have "fan-boys" for all brands and then there are those who think Swisher's...Black n Milds are authentic cigars and then extol the ''virtues' of a $100 Burpha.. .. I meant Gurkha. .. .so if one likes and can afford them.. .does it...

    Fuente Hemingway Cracking

Tis true...I've got a few for the vitola sizes I smoke the most and they do come in handy. I used to buy the Churchill sizes and cut em half....smoke the cut end first and then the other half I'd use the mouthpiece...voila'....2 cigar experiences for the price of one! I still do this...

    Evolution of Opus X

:angelic:get Says the guy who thinks Ron Mexico's are the $hit...no accounting for taste as the ole saying goes. I remember my first Opus when they first came out..love affair since then and yeah...the taste has evolved and changed somewhat but they are still great and being a cigar snob has...

    Fuente Hemingway Cracking

One "cigar hack" I use when I see a troublesome cigar trying to crack/split....slide the band to cover it until you get past the problem area and then remove the band...temporary fix as the band covers the problem area so that the smoke isn't escaping...kinda like a patch job for a car muffler.

    Fuente Hemingway Cracking

Cracking wrappers on cigars is a reality....no matter the brand....so it behooves us as hobbyists to be vigilant in our goal to keep our humidors at a stable environment. That means calibration to ensure that our humis and hygrometers are accurate and after that....leave them in that...

    Do you freeze?

The OP posted about commercial as well as leaf... I referred to the commercial side. Raw leaf is indeed a horse of a different color and would probably be a good idea to freeze as you don't have a history of it. Not sure what the protocol is for DIY raw leaf storage . .. . would be interesting...

    Do you freeze?

Here's the deal.....freezing is a "tool" just like any other tool in our cigar tool box..it has a use but if you know your Vendor then you can alleviate your fears and I've been with my Vendor for 20 years and he guarantees each and every cigar/box etc for quality. For his vigilance he receives...

    Letter from cbid?

I file mine into the circular file...and pour gas on top and throw my cigar into it after smoking. That seem to do the trick and never hear from any Vendor again. My tax was $ 3...puhleeze!

    Ending my relationship with Gurkha

Never smoked a Gurkha I didn't want to exploit for humorous reasons. They go on sale for $50 a stick in one month and in the next month they are selling a 5'r for $10....not sure the business model on this brand but consistency isn't one of them. The taste....well....if one likes the taste of...

    The day the music died.

Necessity is the mother of invention esp. when it comes to any type of "mancave"...fortunately for me I have more than a few areas to smoke around my house but know that many do not. If you have a backyard one can fashion a small shed as a place to go.....one doesn't need much room and sheds go...

Which Online Cigar Retailer Do You Consider The Best?

I chose other but most of the ones that have already been mentioned are places I buy from... Probably a total of 15 because not every business has the same pricing so I tend to find the best price or as they say... Bang for the buck!

    Xikar Lighter Question

Here is a really good UTube on how to refill a butane lighter correctly.... As I said before it's a good idea to use compressed air to blow out the head because of accumulated dust and critters that can get into the heads of our lighters. Purging old butane out of our lighters is important as...

    Xikar Lighter Question

Most lighter issues are Pilot Error.....not purging them because of accumulated air in the chamber when refilling them. If you refill lighters and you get overspray....you just messed it up becuz you just put air right into the chamber and air and butane don't mix or burn very well. Quality...

V-Cutters Are Easy Peasy - Simply the Best

V cutters are only as good as the quality they are made of....one thing about using them properly is to moisten the head first...dry wrappers tend to crack easily. The better and sharper the unit the better it will work. Cheap V cutters suck....to that I agree. I bought a few V...

    Wrapper

Wrappers can make or break any cigar and while I tried to roll some of my own years ago it became a descent into hell trying to roll my own so I just continue to purchase cigars. If I had the patience I'd do it but I'm an impatient man at best so I leave this expertise to the expert torcedors...
