• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    name that movie!

Yeah, this is a pretty specific/obscure quote. Here's a hint: the movie's set in Boston and its two writers won Oscars for best screenplay.

    Your Crown Jewel???

The only reason I hesitate smoking any of my sticks is to see how they taste with some age.

    Yeah, you're right, Larry. :)

    name that movie!

Oh. I think that line's in The Devil's Advocate, too. Al Pacino says it to Keanu Reeves, but I could be wrong. In any case it's a famous line from Milton's poem....

Take it back to the place and get a refund. They clearly don't know what they're talking about or worse––they do and completely f****d you over.

    Plume or Mold

If you wait 'til tomorrow (assuming it'll be sunny where you are), take the sticks outside and see what they look like in sunlight––if they sparkle and show some iridescence, it's plume. Otherwise, you can take a close-up look (maybe if you've got a magnifying glass or something, or...

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

A Juan Lopez stick that I got on clearance at a local B&M out of pure curiosity. Interesting at first: wet grass and cedar. But then it got terrible––it started to taste like a cheap shoe made out of faux leather. Disgusting. I tossed it before I got through half of it.

    Opinions on Kristoff

I've only had the criollo (the churchill). I love the way they look and feel (hefty, a beautifully oily wrapper with a closed foot and a pigtail cap), though I found the flavor development a little too uneven and the overall profile slightly weak.

    humidor concern

Yeah, beads are the way to go. I've got a glass top and the rh is holding steady at 65%. And don't worry too much about the fluctuation. If it goes down to around 65% and you keep it that way (again, with beads), the change won't hurt your sticks.

Definitely. Avoid buying Opus Xs at Casa Fuente and go to Freyboy's/Cigar Box instead if you want some (or any of the more regular production Fuentes for close to MSRP for that matter).

    maduros

Yes, sticks are quite pricey on the strip. If you want a high-end stick at Casa Fuente you should get one that you can only get there, like any of the house brand sticks, a Forbidden X, or the A. Fuente Siglo 13.

    Possible fakes....what do you think?

Real or fake, I agree––if you know what the genuine ones taste like, you can compare (though the band does look off). If not, you've still got some free smokes with an amusing story to tell about them, so try them out and hopefully you'll enjoy them. If not, they're bad smokes and...
