• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Dude, plume doesn't grow through the cello!

We all want to experience plume on our cigars but the truth is that plume ...while it does exist...is a veritable unicorn and in 50 years of this hobby have seen it 3 times. I have about 3000 cigars with some as old as 18 years old. One would expect a treasure trove of plume in at least 1% of...

    Cruises

The main reason that Cigars were targeted was because of the chronic complaints from consumers...and get this...50% was from cigarette smokers! They shut down a lot of cigar lounges but barely touched the areas for cigarettes... hypocrisy at it's finest.

Has anyone used a copper lined humidor to store cigars?

Have had this subject come up from time to time....a member on another board posted this and seems accurate The use of copper was adequate for cigar storage, because it was basically inert in flavoring the tobacco, and because it retained humidity quite effectively.... Antique humidors were...

    Hello from Puerto Rico

Welcome from NW Atlanta and part time San Diego. I love PR and have been there many times and my heart does grieve for the good people there who have had to deal with so much. How is it going since the news doesn't really report on the reality and devastation that you have to face? I am anxious...

    Special occasion cigars....

Take it from a hobbyist of 50 years....we can get caught up in the "collecting" the best cigars and saving them for some future date and that is a habit I had to break away from. Some premiums just don't measure up over a certain time frame while some do. There are exceptions to the rule and...

Leaf discussion: can taste characteristics be sorted by cou ntry of origin?

My dream vacay is to take a few weeks and go to these places where all of this activity goes on...along with Rum and Tequila Tours....sounds like Heaven to me!

Leaf discussion: can taste characteristics be sorted by cou ntry of origin?

I wish I knew more about this as I have never grown or blended tobaccos from different areas....but everything I have read tells me that each area does have their indigenous tastes...i.e. "twang" as we say about CC's. Professional Manufacturers grow and blend as a Specialty item from those...

Buying a house (Tips & Tricks?)

In PA. from what I read once you purchase your home ( has to be your primary ) you become eligible but you'll need to check and see if there is a wait time...it was for me here in Ga. We save about $1500 a year on our property taxes so your state may be different as to their laws...but they do...

Buying a house (Tips & Tricks?)

Smart...also check your state as far as getting a deduction with the Homestead Act...its a year waiting period but saves you a $1000 or more a year.

Buying a house (Tips & Tricks?)

As was said you can still do a 30 year mortgage but pay an extra 50 to a $100 a month on the principal and in 10 years should be surprised how far down the mortgage has been paid.

Afraid to ask - plume? Or other

This is what they call a "toothy" cigar.....If you rub the white dots and they don't come off the wrapper leaf, it may be a “toothy” wrapper. This usually coincides with magnesium deposits as well...have had my fair share of these....tiny little white dots.

Don't make me send your handwriting to a forensic lab...

I love mystery bombings...no name ...just mailboxes melted and destroyed and leaving the recipient in shock trying to find the culprit. If one has OCD...this is the worst of all cigar bombings because we can't let go of "whodunit"...just f'n cruel...in a great sort of way.
