• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    New job, New humidor.

For a box that can be converted to a humidor, NewAir makes the 281, 28-Bottle Thermoelectric wine cooler. They make one other Thermo unit with double doors but it has a divider down the middle of the shelves. It only allows for 2-bottles on each side of the divider. From there, all the others...

    Cigar Tetris and Boveda

Humidor humidity is always a difficult topic to figure out. I think its because it involves physics, thermodynamics, math and a ton of variables. The biggest issue is size of the humidor. You have wood boxes, Tupperware, coolers, chests, cabinets, winadors, refrigerators, closets, rooms.... if...

From HALFWHEEL Boveda Offering Smart Sensor to Retailers, Dropping Price

Seems like they are making a play to dominate monitoring. At $20 it is about the same price are a decent digital hygrometer. You get a digital hygrometer and remote monitoring. It seems like a good deal. I have SensorPush but it was about the only remote monitoring product available a year...

    Elie Bleu

If you like the humidor I would get it refurbished. Elie Bleu might have suggestions of a quality US based woodworker. I’m sure you could find someone who can fix it. I’m guessing but the value you might lose on selling it as is might be greater than the cost to get it fixed. I know Daniel...

No question about that when compared to some of the new places, yet they keep it full of shooters on nights and weekends. The owner has 5 shops now. Robbinsdale is the oldest.

    AR-15 Build Thread

I’m contemplating a 9mm AR build. I’m looking at a lefty configuration because I have to shoot all long guns lefthanded due to my eyesight. My right eye can’t be fully corrected. My current AR-15 is a lefthand model I got from Stag Arms. It is nice not to have brass ejecting in front of your...

    One year with SensorPush

I have had my SensorPush remote hygrometer in my walnut Waxing Moon (Waxing Cressent model 150 count) humidor. I thought I would share the first year data graph. There were over 167,000 readings posted over the year. For the first half of the year, I used Heartfelt beads (65% RH) for humidity...

Video tour of Halfwheel’s 20,000 Cigar Archive

The video podcast, Box Pressed, produced by Boveda took a back office tour of the Halfwheel office. They were shown the 20,000 (and growing) cigar collection Halfwheel maintains. It’s like an archive, museum and collection all in one. It’s worth you investment of time to see it. See the Arturo...

3+ Months Since Smoking - Humidor Care

If I were going to try to revive the cigars.... One thing to add. If you follow the directions in the video, I would place the box he talks about in a heavy duty freezer bag to try and keep the humidity confined.
