• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Real or Fake? (release the hounds!)

Yep. Lack of barcode does not a fake box make.

    Opus Wrapper

Boveda is great, but a tupperware can have a seal that is actually too tight, and not allow humidity to move in and out enough. They need to be burped every once in a while, otherwise they can get too humid. Based on your problem, I think you should try dryboxing, like Alwayslit suggested.

    Opus Wrapper

You sure your hygrometer is correct? Because that sounds like the filler is burning faster than the wrapper, which is a symptom of high humidity.

    Arturo Fuente Anejo 50

ARTURO FUENTE ANEJO 5 1/4 x 50 "No. 50" Tonight I am smoking a stick I have enjoyed on several occasions in the past, the Arturo Fuente Anejo. Tonight I am smoking the robusto sized Number 50. The story behind the Anejo is that a little over a decade ago a hurricane wiped out the crop...

Metallic (Tin) taste in the A. Fuente line - am I crazy?

I've never tasted what I would think of as a metallic tastes in any Fuente smokes. I have tasted a mineral flavor in some cigars, but not in Fuentes, or even any Dominican cigars that I can think of. Interesting.

Some Johnny O's 8 Corona Extra, 9 Mag47, 8 Cazadors All with pigtails and shag feet. They smell awesome... really strong Graham Cracker smell. I know they aren't for everyone, but I'm looking forward to them.

    EP Carillo New Wave

Love these in the petite corona size. Never gotten any flavor that I would consider Cuban-esque, but it is definitely good.

Different wrapper leaf for different vitola of same blend?

Forgive my cynicism, but I think the CI origin is part of the issue.

    CroMagnon Mandible

Rather then start a new thread for it, I'm just going to post my thoughts on the EMH here: CROMAGNON EMH 5x56 "Early Modern Human" This evening I'm going to be lighting up the second vitola in the CroMagnon taxonomy... The EMH, or Early Modern Human. This cigar is a 5x56 Robusto Extra, a...

Finally going to buy a full box

Agreed. The NC Montes are for the birds. While the CC Montes can be hit or miss for me, when they are on, they are great.

    Ashton ESG 20 Yr. Salute

ASHTON ESG 6 3/4 x 49 "20 Year Salute" The Estate Sun Grown is the most expensive, supposedly hardest to find cigar in the regular Ashton portfolio. It represents a combined effort between Robert Levin, founder of Ashton, and Carlos Fuente Jr., the man behind Fuente's Opus X among...

What are your top 3 "by the box only" smokes?

I have kept Fuente Sungrown Chateaus on hand, by the box, for a while now. I guess it would be my "by the box only" because they are definitely my go to, guilt free, always on point, affordable, every day smoke.

Band ON or OFF??? That is the question

If I'm smoking at a B&M, I usually take the band off (if I can get it off easily), but when I'm at home, I leave it on. For me, enjoying the artwork on bands only serves to enhance the experience for me, so when I'm at home, I always leave them on.

    La Reloba Selection Mexico

Smoked one of these on Cinco de Mayo. Really enjoyed it, and the price is definitely right on these. I think I paid 6-7 bucks for the toro. Great use of that Mexican wrapper. Has a lot of the flavor I think of as being characteristic, or unique to Pepin's blends, but also has some great musty...
