• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Show off them nub!

well, f#@k me, warren, that makes my efforts look weak sauce! well damn done. o) still, best efforts and all that: a little damage between the band and the cap made it a little mushy, but I SWEAR they hide the crack just past the band, did NOT want to put this down!

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

no, it's a big bastard, and there's no getting around that. not entirely sure of the age, but it's still an ass-kicker

    Shuriken cigar cutter

i would REALLY recommend against them. only cigar cut i have ever had that DECREASED the ammount of flavor i was getting from a cigar. AND they go too far i to the cap for my liking, increasing the odds of a construction issue. i tried it across three different cigars i was familiar with...

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

shark is the anejo. there is also an opus shark, and a sand shark (based of the don carlos, IIRC?). all the same vitola, full size torpedo (or possibly trompeta), where the first 2/3 are box pressed, flowing back to round on the final 1/3 from just before the band, to the tip. the 55 is a...

    Couple restores I did tonight.

that was a LOT of typing, and a LOT of info. hopefully someone finds it helpful. i'm just proud i got my shit together and got them done, truth be told! i wanna thank everyone who have been catching the resto fever for giving me cause to post this, and most notably Grrrrr for leading the way...

    Couple restores I did tonight.

last in this round is a dr. grabow starfire. this line is pretty well thought of, long out of rotation, and i had one that was a champ that someone else resto'd for me, so i picked this up on its own. plus, LOOK at it! it's a bad-ass classic straight bulldog! o) now, here's why we...

    Couple restores I did tonight.

next is a yello-bole sparta, once again a cousin to kaywoodie, once again a clean classic shape, a half bent apple (or billiard, maybe? probably apple, but i am rubbish at the finer distinctions of shapes. but it is cool that the sandblast has been worn down with time, which means someone...

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

no harm no foul, but a lot of people think the fabled 77 is the only pointy in that family. i really don't know why i tell people about the other vitolas: the more people chasing sharks, the easier it is to get the 46. anyway, hope it smoked for you as wellas it looks!

    Couple restores I did tonight.

same lot, a medico VFQ. in the kaywoodie family, this is a classic american drug store pipe. can't be bothered to dig into the pedigree, but it was part of that three pipe lot, and i dig lovat styles. there was (once again) a ton of crap on the rim, and fear of substantial char, and the...

    50th bday party and BBQ.

that looks like a great collection of mad bastards, with good smoke and good drink. happy damn birthday, sir, and i can only hope it is as good a time as it looks! oh, keep posting pictures! as those bourbons drain, there is bound to be something blackmail worthy come up. o)

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

you sure that's not the 55? (or 60, i forget). it doesn't look box pressed in the photo... still, never met a bad anejo,so good call. o)

    Couple restores I did tonight.

first up is a basket, just stamped "italy". dirty, but i dug the shape, kinda danish without being too big or weird. and it was from a lot of three, cheap the rim was hell, and i was worried about extreme charring or cracks, so i decided to wash it with oil soap in water with just hand...

    Couple restores I did tonight.

figured with all the interest, i would finally get my shit together and post a few. plus, for anyone starting out, they can see results from a beginners standpoint (me), as Grrrrr is leading the way in the experienced field. my kit currently contains: walker briar works resto kit (stem...

    Couple restores I did tonight.

dave, you suck for that pre-ashton apple! and i mean that in the nicest possible way, brother: a classic shape like that, AND you back into a killer pedigree for it? only way imma smile more for you on this is if it smokes for you as well as it looks. o)

    What CC you smoking?

just because i never drop one in here: no idea the credentials, but rich flavors with a mellow texture tell me it ain't ROTT. but it IS perfect for a lazy day of slacking. o)

    BOTL Newbie Sampler Thread 2.0

zach_24_90 came through for me today: solid set, mostly towards the fuller end. every time i see a NC LGC it takes me waaaay back, and i hadn't had opportunity to try the newer MoWs. well done, zach, and i thank you. o) TR left, and should be able to get you a box with a DC# by monday.

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

decided to give today a miss. finished a few pipes, had a fat late breakfast with my lady, and to continue with the lazy and leisurely theme: CCs just feel HUGE to me in a full toro, but it is lovely and rich, and perfect for me right now. with thanks. o)
