• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    What's in your bowl today

rolling in late (going to be a LONG night), and burning a bowl of 4nog nutty professor in my r.c.sands: the burley was a. sample from 4nog, and the sands was on javaman's sterling recommendation. not bad for breakfast. o)

    let's talk boots

little help here? i am in. the market for some new boots. no idea why, but since i was a teen i have had a preference for high tops, and usually boots. might be stability, IDK. for years i went the punker route, most especially with doc's, to much success, but i had a pair a couple years...

    What's in your bowl today

it's a hard line to tell, and everyone has their own read. the sutliff molto, definitely aro. escudo, definitely not. something like the stokkebye luxury line, or even OGS? i taste much more tobacco than flavor, almost never getting any "aro" note. but that's me. don't worry, your dunny...

    What's in your bowl today

I have had superlative luck with walker briar works forever stems. honestly just have one, and rotate the bowls. MM legend is a good straightforward shape, but the Country Gentleman has a hardwood heel, and may last longer. or by a bag of MM seconds and pitch them like used solo cups.

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

had a ricky robo (current) on an errand this afternoon: it had been a while since i had had a freshie, so i decided to compare and contrast to a CG from '09: current production is solid, but everything was a little creamier, sweeter, deeper... basically everything except the spice was just...

    Getting into Pipe Restoration

the rim and exterior should clean with warm water and elbow grease (maybe some murphy's oil soap). salt treat the chamber, then ream. alcohol and pipe cleaners for the stem's airway. hell, you could possibly press them into service immediately, were you so inclined.

    Getting into Pipe Restoration

could we get pix later, with better lighting, and also down into the bowl? those just may need a superficial clean up. and, unless you really want them to shine (which can be done later), may not need much at all to turn them back to service. also, VERY cool that you scored an heirloom, and i...

    What's in your bowl today

glad that briar turned out to treat you so well, dave. o) now, getting away from the molto from earlier, my GG poker with a 50/50 blend of LNF and MacB mixture flake: STILL trying to bite the shit out of me, but the stokkebye has tamed it. a little. AND, the heaping helping of just straight...

Sutliff Molto Dolce - PToM, July 2014 (Pipe Tobacco of the Month)

so, yeah, if you DON'T get "i just stepped into a dessert bakery" off the tin note or room note, you have no sense of smell. vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, and chocolate (although the last may just be me thinking i am burning a bowl of caramel brownies). the tobacco is a loose, very wet shag cut...
