• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Cain F Review

Nice review Jason. My experience so far as well, good smoke but somewhat one dimensional as they say. Hoping a long rest will make a difference on the rest.

    CAO Black Bengal Toro-First Review

Great review. I have a fiver of these resting myself. I'll take your advice and let them sit for another couple months before diving in.

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

5 Vegas Miami and then CAO Soprano. The 5V was good, but I have to say, I really enjoyed the distinct flavor of the Soprano, my first. Was skeptical beforehand, but dang if it wasn't probably the best in the line.

    Third Hand Smoke

Smoking Tobacco has been a ritual or past time of humanity for a 1000 years (OK, I'm not exactly sure how long, but a helluva a long time, anyway), and it's the holy grail for these nimrods to kill it. How did we end up with this godforsaken nanny state crap? :argh:

    You're going where??

That would be the Disneyland where they have m#ther$#@k@#$ Snow White and the seven m#ther$#@k@#$ dwarfs? Yeah, I know the place.

Hardees. Speaking of burgers, basic or with every damn thing you can pile onto it?

    Custom Cigar Poker

Cool idea, but is that tungsten welding rod a little thick? Does it go into the cigar OK without stressing it too much and risk busting it?

    wet before you cut

I usually punch first, and if the draw is a little tight, I cut, so guess the cap is a little moist at that point. Don't cut the entire cap, though, so not sure if this would make a difference with possible wrapper failure.

    ABT Recipe (BACON!)

Yum Yum! OK if I cross post this on the BOTL Biggest Loser thread? I need some help against my competition over there, and this just might do the trick.:eyebrow:

    Car Accident

Hit by a drunk from behind while stopped at a light, one of my worse fears while on the bike. And he hit you hard enough to push you into the intersection, and just some chipped paint on your vehicle? Sounds like you picked the right ride for the occasion. Hope the rest of it works out as well.

    La Traviata Review

Thanks for the review, Jason, I've been curious about these. I'm still picking through the CAO line, so far the MX2 is the one I like. The others I've tried have been just OK, although I have some Soprano's resting. Maybe I'll try reviewing one of those when the time comes.

    Very lucky this morning!

I'll take a crack at what happened. Condensation occurred on the outside of the sticks from what you say. Was the cedar warm when placed in the jar? Cigars were cool (room temp). Beads placed inside jars with warm (relatively) cedar and smokes and closed up. Temp spiked, then slowly...

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

DPG Cuban Classic. I generally like Pepin's, but this one was a little underwhelming.

Any opinions about converting a church to a house

Sounds cool on the face of it, but seems like you'd have to spend a lot turning it into a home. How desirable is the the neighborhood/location? So many property options out there right now, seems like a long shot.

New to BOTL - South Austin

Welcome fellow Austinite. I'm on the north side, actually more like Round Rock, the less-weird side of town (present company excepted, of course).

Padilla Dominus - Yes or no??

Won a fiver on CB, looking forward to giving them a shot.

Funny how stereotypes have a way of reinforcing themselves.

Origin of the White Wedding Dress

Ha, reminds me of the story my mom tells. Years ago she complained about having to carry clothes which needed ironing upstairs to iron them. Her next birthday my dad got her a second ironing board to keep downstairs. Doubt he made that mistake twice!

    Greetings from Austin, Texas!

Hey Darb. welcome to the BOTL from another Austinite (OK, west Round Rock actually, I'm not weird enough for Austin proper). Cool humi you got going there. We're going to have to get a herf together in these parts once it warms a bit. Maybe even invite that Jason fellow from Ft Hood :cbig:
