• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Fingernail Love

actually why i went back and learned how to "bite" off the end of a cigar, to explore some "old school" methods. if you imagine skinning a grape with your teeth, then apply the process to just the very edge of the cap, you can get surprisingly precise cuts. also, bonus preview of flavor while...

    Is this worth the money?

either an aero or a pour over method make OUTSTANDING cups, at the cost of a little time. really can't go wrong with either, except the whole "it doesn't make gallons at a time" thing. what?!? man's got needs! o) and FWIW the wooden collar on that chemex makes it SO much safer to handle. i...

    Gurgles

smoking slower will help IMMENSELY. also, letting your tobacco air out before hand, like dry boxing a cigar. how you pack it can affect that as well. part of it is experience with smoking a pipe, with your pipes in particular, and with your tobacco selection. and, all else fails, send a pipe...

What about a newbie pipe tobbacco trade thread?

i think there is a possibility here, but it might be too early yet. my concern is that, with the newb sampler, it is set up such that the sponsors are there as tenured members who know the field and are willing to assume the risk of making sure the trade is always at least more than fair in...

What are some good newbie brands?

i myself would stay away from aromatics, the infused of the pipe world, until you get your feet. while it is easier to get a good flavor going in pipe tobacco than in a cigar, aromatics smoke wetter, and can be difficult to work with from the start. i like the idea of trying one of each major...

    What's in your bowl today

stokkebye golden dansk in a stan that may be doomed forever to taste of cheap cherry. still, works with something that tastes virginia/ cav (without looking it up). probably going to dedicate this to sweeter/ fluffier types of smoke.
