We have pared the original list of design styles/elements down to the top ten.
(Vote above. From Tapatalk, chose "Web View" in the drop down menu)
You can vote for as many selections as you'd like, and you can change your votes up until poll closing.
Please post pictures of pipes you feel best represent some of the categories you are interested in, as well as reasoning behind your choices and why you think it would be a good pick for the group. The more discussion we have here, the more everyone's eyes might be opened to something they might not have thought about before. Also, feel free to post that you "Voted" so the thread continues to get bumped.
These final poll results will be given to the pipe makers to give them a general feel for what the group likes, but will not be a hard & fast requirement of their submitted design(s)
Poll will be open until this time (1:44PM CST) next Monday, January 26.
See the 2015 BOTL Pipe thread for more information.

I'm not going to go Author as I know someday I'll buy a Sav 320. Billiards are beautiful pipes, but probably one of the most common designs. I was torn on the Bulldog/Rhodesian but ultimately decided that most are not unique enough for a project such as this. I like Dublins quite a bit, but again I know I will be adding more to my collection in the future. So my votes are going to:

Cutty, particularly the Devil Anse as the pics people posted when this first came up had some great looking pipes.

Freehand. Freehands seem to give the artist a lot of room to play.

Oom Paul. I don't have one yet and this one shows how they can still be quite a unique piece.

Poker. I know that last years pipe was a poker, but they are just one of my favorite shapes.

Of these I do like the idea of the Devil Anse the best.

Edit: I almost forgot to mention the Egg. This style looks like it would fit nicely in the hand and also leaves the artist some room to play.

I enjoy the Devils Anise shape and I also love the squat meaty shape of the author (at least the ones I looked at)

I think the shape should somewhat be dictate by the budget. Obviously a more technical piece will command a higher price.

I recommend high quality briar with a design that will keep the cost of fabrication down, with a look that still has a unique feel to it.

I agree for the most part. My mind set is that if this is an annual release it should be special/unique/different/out of the ordinary and I feel like the cutty is fairly common. But at the same time a lot of people have A LOT of different pipes. Just my two cents

I need to search for some pictures to post, but my sentiments follow the above, I think the author and billiard are particularly common shapes, I believe the poker is also and it seems it's a very popular shape right now

My vote is by far the devil Anse themed cutty, I find it more unique and appealing than most other options, it's a very American shape in my mind and were americans(for the most part) by God

A second would be a variation on the oom Paul of some sort

As others have said, I'm really digging some of the cutty/devil anse styles on Instagram right now. That being said, I'm sure a few of the other shapes would be just as awesome.
Side note, the freehands don't do it for me. Just a personal thing, as the term free hand in my mind means I can't hold the damn thing because of the ridiculous shape.

I too don't care for the freehand for this project, I have a freehand but I feel it's much more a older dated but not yet classic style, nothing wrong with them it just seems difficult to make s freehand "shine" compared to other freehands
