2015 BOTL Pipe of the Year

Here's one more that didn't quite make the cut for our BOTL Pipe. In order to remove a blemish in the briar he had to take off too much material and the pipe ended up out of spec for dimensions of our production run. He was still able to salvage the pipe, though, gave it a deep rustication and a pre-molded stem, making it one of his Albatross pipes. The Albatross are J's "budget" line of pipes in which he uses pre-molded stems instead of hand-cutting solid stock, drastically reducing the amount of labor involved, and in turn reducing the costs required to create the piece. The Albatross stems are still altered to fit each unique pipe, and hand-finished, ensuring you still get an aesthetically pleasing finished piece at a fraction of the price.

If I venture further into pipes after the newb trade I would love to have a beautiful piece like that
